Anyone else really not like Donny?

Is it just me? Maybe it's just the absence of Tommy, but I think it's more. Am I alone on this?

I can't stand him, he takes shots at "the people at home" and I'm guessing he dated Scal in the past, judging by the way he defended him tonight.

He tries to be as unoffensive as possible and spits out the blandest "insights" which are typically wrong. Like once I think he said Powe was the best low post scorer in the league, or something to that extent. I really don't mind him too much though, but I watch the national broadcasts instead whenever they're on.

He seems nice enough....But it's kinda obvious that he's not really a Celtics fan...just collecting a paycheck in the NE area.

I think somebody here summed it up perfectly. Mike and Donny are like water and bran flakes.

I agree re: bland insights. Video-game-esque insights. Bland personality, too. And its not like he's been an important part of C's history.

I think he takes himself too seriously as a commentator, and I won't write off his potential. But CSNE - for a network with an exclusive hold over such a large market - should give us fans better than him.

Nice

He's not bad, but Tommy and even Cousy are ten times better.

We could do worse. No one can ever replace Tommy but Donny is pretty damn good. Take it from a guy who doesn't live in Boston anymore and watches NBA League Pass - compare him to any other "expert" around the league and he stacks up pretty damn well.

I like Donny. Got to remember he's just started doing it too. You can't expect him to be an expert at this point in his career.

I like Donny but he's nothing special...he's fine. Inoffensive and knowledgable...

Although his "Celtics credentials", being only that he played at UConn, are a bit weak...

I agree. Get league pass - and compared to some of the other commenators he is pretty good. I think he is top 10%. I put some of the national guys ahead of him like Jeff Van Gundy. But he isn't bad at all for a former player.

I get league pass broadband and, yes, compared to other bad commentators from teams with no history Donny is alright but i don't think that is the standard you should be looking for, especially for the Celtics. They should bring in someone with more Celtic credentials who actually lasted in the nba for more than a second. There has got to be some Celtic from the 1980s or 1990s that isn't doing much. What about Dee Brown? Sherm Douglas? Anyone...or how about Comcast just waits for Antoine to accept that his career is over and the only way he will back with the Cs in as color commentator. I know he is kind of a divisive figure among Cs fans but I think Antoine the broadcaster would be real entertaining. Instead of Tommy points for hustle he could give out Walker wiggles for style/ridiculous shots and decisions that actually work out.

I really like Donny. I think he is a very talented broadcaster. But.... the job should be in the hands of a former Celtic. I would much rather see Cedric Maxwell in that spot. Maybe Big Baby can take over in 5-6 years.

Baby should be broadcasting now when he's not on the floor. That way he could do most of the first and third quarters at least.

I have nba league pass and I will tell you there is a lot of broadcaster out there that I don't like. I don't understand how fans can listen to those guys for an 82 game season. I have no problems with Donnie, actually I really don't have a problem anyone because I don't watch games for the broadcasters but just to watch my team play basketball. I'm know the game and have my own thoughts about how the game is going. Sometimes I agree with the broadcaster and other times I don't.

Bland somes it up well, perhaps the longer he stays on the jop though he will grow more comfortable and put a little personality into what he is doing. Mike and his comments about "no tall people in Maine" had me laughing near the end of the game.

I'm with most others who have league pass and can't stand most of the announcers. There are some good ones out there, but they are far and few between. I really like the Clippers' announcers. They are my favorite outside of Tommy and Mike. The Grizzlies' guys are tolerable. Outside of that…meh. Donny is adequate.

And it'd priceless to hear him blubbering and crying when Tommy yells at him...for eating his sandwich!
