OT: Don't you "wish" you'd money to waste like the Warriors?

Golden State ownership: A repression, you say?
Don't you know I'm
rich bitch?!
Seriously, I read from a void of his contract to... Now this with Maggette. And Ainge supposedly had an interest in him as a free agent signing. What gets me is when a team foolishly signs a player to a bad contract and then believes that another equally dumb owner will bail them out. You can't just throw money at a problem. And I'm not even going to go into all the talented players that have pass through the Warriors over the years. Man, incompetence has to be the richest thing going in this country.
I wonder if a capable general manager laughs to himself in private. You have to. It's funny and that's what's sad. It isn't good for the NBA. Stupidity, that is. What else could you call it? Desperate. But, even desperate people have common sense, so you think.
Sometimes, I wonder what makes a Ellis or a Roethlisberger or a Winslow, Jr. endanger themselves and put their careers in possible jeopardy for a quick thrill or brief moment of fun.
I heard my first concrete rumblings this week that the Warriors are indeed prepared (yes, so soon) to part with their big free-agent signee, hard as it figures to be to move Corey Maggette in the first season of a five-year, $50 million contract. Maggette is one of the 90 guys who becomes eligible to be traded Monday. ESPN.com
First things first: The notion of trading Ellis "has not" been discussed in any way, shape or form, according to Ellis' agent, Jeff Fried. And that probably stands to reason, given that no team in its right mind would take on a $66 million, six-year obligation to a fellow who tore up his ankle in a moped accident. ESPN.com

I too find it funny when teams give up on their free agent signings before the season is even over. It happened in oakland this year in the NFL with DeAngelo hall. The difference there is that you could see that one being a failure. Not many posters on here could say they saw Maggette being a bust, a lot of us on here wanted him on the celtics.

Well, it isn't that Maggette is an awful basketball player. It's just that it has been said that he's a selfish player and those types of players destroy chemistry.
The problem isn't so much the contract (emerging star?) of Ellis as much as it's that apparently he'd lied to his bosses.
The Oakland Raiders are their own worst enemies. I mean they as a franchise are a perfect example of a team that pulls straws. Talk about the Warriors... Let's talk about the Raiders. Damn. How many stars (or former stars), supposedly stars, "big" free agents and head coaches have been with the Raiders in recent years.
DeAngelo Hall
Jevon Walker
Gibril Wilson
Daunte Culpepper
Randy Moss
LaMont Jordan
Kerry Collins
Warren Sapp
Charlie Garner
Ted Washington
Jerry Rice...etc.

They traded for Marcus Williams(UCONN) too, but they have only played him 37 minutes this year. Apparently, Don Nelson thinks he's too slow or something, but he always played well against us for NJ.

Hey, you guys signed Patrick O'Bryant after we pooed him out of our franchise. I'd be careful before casting stones

Yeah, but O'Bryant's a low risk... Boston isn't handcuffed to his contract.

Lol, Charlie Garner. I remember him. Also, its funny that three of those guys were/are patriots too, and were pretty good. Ted Washington was good in NE, lamont jordan has been alright this year before the injury, and Moss is well, Moss!
Another case of someone elses garbage is our treasure. Maybe that can happen with Maggette too!

Maggette?
Please, no. Garnett and him would fight and I'm not joking about that. KG would boot his me first attitude off this team like a punt. I mean it would be an episode of Batman on the court. Exclamation words flying everywhere.

I don't think Ellis' contract is bad, in fact if anything I think its a good contract, for what thats worth. The guy's pretty damn good and still really damn young. ESPN's writer is way off base saying no team in their right minds would take on Ellis' contract.
Maggette's deal was stupid because he was repetitive alongside what they already had to some extent, and seemed to have been signed because a.) they had the cap room to sign him, and b.) they wanted to flex their muscles after losing Baron Davis to the Clippers. Not because he was well equipped to help the Warriors win more games. Worst thing is he's 29 years old and they gave him a 5 year deal.
Between Maggette/SJax/Jamal Crawford....individually their decision making isn't bad enough to overshadow what they bring to the table, but when you add all three together to play a major role (on and off the court) for your team you are asking for trouble, IMO. And they are all signed to large multi-year contracts.

How on earth is that team going to play with One basketball once Ellis comes back?

It appears that Crawford can opt out after this season. He should move on from that team and situation. Because it's too crowded in the back court. Golden States needs to make some trades.
Ellis
Crawford
Azubuike
Belinelli
Marcus Williams...etc.
And Stephen Jackson and Maggette can play guard as well.
Boston could target Belinelli. He and Giddens would be nice young depth (or insurance) behind Ray Allen.
