Seems like a favor... But, it'll be interesting to see how he pans out.

The Memphis Grizzlies announced today in a statement to RealGM and other media outlets that they have signed free agent forward Darius Miles. Terms of the deal were not disclosed per team policy, but it is believed to be a non-guaranteed contract.

"Darius has been an active, productive player in the past,” said Grizzlies General Manager and Vice President of Basketball Operations Chris Wallace. “He did a good job with the Celtics in preseason and we look forward to working with him."

Good for him...he was on good behavior when he was here so good to see him get an opportunity to resurrect his career. I think it's pretty clear that Danny/Doc gave a good recommendation for Miles to Chris Wallace and that played a large part in the signing.

I'm glad for Miles.

He'll need some time to develop his game and get back up to speed. Glad to see he's getting the chance though, and I hope he does well.

I'm happy for the guy...

Anyone know if Memphis going to be a player in the great free agent market next year? Because if Miles sticks with the team, Portland is going to have to take back his salary...

Yeah, he was really behaved when he was in training camp. So I too am glad that he gets a shot.

Good for Darius! I'd only want Walker on Boston if he'd be willing to take Sam Cassells role-inactive, sit on the bench, get your ring doing nothing.

Good for Miles. As for Walker, as long as there is a 3 point line and a basketball, I don't want him anywhere near the court for the Cs.

The new AW didn't do that in Mia, Minny or Mem. You wouldn't want him down low on them boards. Good hands, good passes...all that bothers you are the threes? The D he played was always good. You think he can't control the amt of threes and make them in the flow of the game? Well it was just a thought. I wonder if anyone in the C's are thinking about it because of the Miles situation and the Walker stories coming out together. 8-)

Interesting comments by Miles...

The Grizzlies' gamble will last at least until Jan. 7, when they must decide whether to guarantee Miles' contract for the rest of the season. He'll likely appear in two games before then, and would only cost the Griz roughly $500,000 if he remains on the roster through April.

"I feel like I can help Rudy (Gay) out at the three without him feeling the threat of me trying to take his position," Miles said. "I know a little veteran stuff on the defensive side that can help him become a better player. Plus, my experiences can help. I've been on both sides."

Leadership hasn't exactly been one of Miles' strongest characteristics, given his run-ins with coaches.

"I wish I could do this without me having to put money on (Portland's) salary cap," Miles said. "The only reason they say something about me is because of their business decision. They decided they didn't want me to play for that team anymore. It's kind of like the (Stephon Marbury) situation, and everybody labeled my like I was this bad dude.

"I've been on the side where I've never had a bad article written about me, I was on every commercial, on the cover of magazines and my jersey selling No. 3 all over the world. Then I've been where I was considered one of the top five thugs in the league. I'm a cancer. But I've never had a teammate that said they had a problem with me. I'm not a problem."
