Celtics shopping Giddens (Yahoo! Sports)

Post#1 » by cfan79 » Tue Dec 16, 2008 1:46 pm

I just saw on Hoopshype that the C's are shopping Giddens. I can see why they would because of our depth at shooting guard is so strong.

If anybody has any other info about this rumor go ahead and post it. Hoopshype isn't showing where the article source is until about 11 something.

Found it on Yahoo Sports

C's are trying to get a future first rounder for Giddens. Hopefully we can get one because even though Giddens is tearing up the D-League there doesn't seem to be a spot on the roster for him.

If Danny can find a team willing to do a deal for a pick we should just sit on it. Who knows how good it could be in 5 years.

This makes sense. Walker is ahead of Giddens and will take any wing minutes that become available for one of the young guys. It's hard to see how they can develop both with this roster.

It cuts costs and this economy is hurting all the teams' bottom lines.

Also, by now Danny's probably got his eye on some kid in the coming draft and the Celtics don't have a first rounder.

That probably means we are close to signing someone. Like Mutombo perhaps...

I really don`t see how we could get a first rounder for him. I would like to use him in a package with Davis and Scal for a veteran big or SF. But ATM I don`t see him having much value.

Maybe it is time we bring him back to the team and give him minutes at back up SF...

This is Ainge trying to open up a roster spot while increasing value to the Celtics. This would open up a roster spot for Mutombo, Marbury, PJ Brown etc. Makes sense.

I was thinking the same thing, but I don't see them bringing him back just to get his value up. There must be a veteran waiting in the wings like has been previously been said.

Can't really see anyone giving up anything for Giddens. 29 teams could have had him for nothing, and passed. I don't think he has shown enough for someone to say, "hey, we were wrong about this guy, lets trade for him." Maybe a second rounder, but in a package with Baby perhaps something more, but doubtful. I agree with thebirdman, Ainge is looking to clear a roster spot for someone. Also, nobody is trading for Scal.

Man... how do you trade a guy who just got your team logo tattooed on his head? That's cold.

He got the team logo put on his head. How do I not know this? I know what Rondo's poop smells like.

History says it'd be somewhere between Kedrick Brown and Carmelo Anthony talent-wise..

My God, Chris Wallace is such an idiot.

Well we did it to Chauncey after he got his ink and that worked out fantastically.

I'm not even trying to be negative here, or even rational really. This thread is just overwhelming me with horrible flashbacks.

Maybe it was crossing the line a bit getting in the bathroom stall with him, but he's famous so he's not human.

He got a green shamrock with the number 4 in it behind his left(?) ear. I've seen a pretty good picture of it but I couldn't find it just now.

Didn't they make a commercial about getting traded after getting tattooed?

Or maybe we can get an early second rounder. Minny and OKC have a lot of picks and their second rounders will be high.

OKC was interested in Tony Allen, so Giddens might be a player they also have some interest in...and Minny lost Brewer for the season...

And since the second round picks are non-guaranteed it is even better...

But I still like this trade:
Giddens+Scal+Davis+3 million cash (to pay for the last year of Scal`s contract) for Joe Smith

I could see him playing well for a team like Golden State, but i don't see GS giving up a first round pick for him. Maybe a second round pick.

Funniest thing I have read on this site in years! And wouldn't surprise me if it was true. My own obsession with the Celtics is frankly just nuts.
"I think the criticism's stupid," Stevens said. "So I don't care. I'm with Jaylen (Brown) on that. Those two had achieved more than most 25 and 26 year olds ever had. I'd rather be in the mix and have my guts ripped out than suck."
