I really do hope this is a Danny Ainge smokescreen.

How can this guy even help us off the bench, whats he going to be the motivational speaker (cause we already have Cassell for that role)? He plays no defense which is what our C's are about and jacks up 3's when he gets the ball or dribbles it off his foot or at least he used to when he actually played. I know he loved being a Celtic but he doesn't help us improve, I rather have a Joe Smith who played great against us in the playoffs, a PJ who played great for us in the playoffs or Deke who can actually play defense and wont try to become a offensive threat by jacking up horrible shots.

Unless the Cs were looking to shatter the record for most technical fouls given to the bench, I don't see why Ainge would look into signing Antoine.
I can picture Ainge bringing him back in 10 years or so, probably to coach the Celtics the year before that once-in-a-generation franchise player is eligible for the draft. I'm pretty sure he'd do a better job at losing games than M.L. Carr did.

While I love Toine. I just don't see how he helps this team.

How is Antoine not an upgrade over Scalabrine?

If the objective is to get a player who arguably is better or worse than Scal, then they've set the bar WAY too low. Ainge had reported with Miles that he wasn't looking for a veteran to be at the end of the bench or in a suit, and I expect the same standard is being applied to Walker. If he isn't good enough to be part of the regular rotation, then there isn't a fit.

He is...but some of the haters hatred is so deep and ingrained there is no reasoning...
No one is saying he'd be a savior off the bench but he'd certainly be a HUGE upgrade from Scal/Davis/POB if not just for his passing and rebounding...

Antoine has championship experience, is a good rebounder, last time he came here he was a team player (for the most part).
He would be in the rotation, no doubt.

Sure thing. He could probably make Big Baby cry again

since he is almost as a good a leader as KG is...
His pumping up the C's on the bench in that comeback in the 2004 ECF is still a wonderful moment...

Come on people have you guys been watching this team over the past year and a half? Toine doesn't fit in with this team from a skills standpoint. This team is all about playing defense and Toine doesn't do that. His game doesn't fit here in Boston anymore. So I'm not surprise by this at all.

Walker better than Scal?? Maybe playing a one-on-one yes but basketball is a team sport.
I can accept he is a more talented player. He is a better handler, rebounder, scorer but he is also a very very poor defender, a turnover waiting to happen and an atrocious overall shooter. Scal is a way better defender, a much more reliable shooter and a very selfless player.
Walker's role in this team would be on the second unit so he should do the little things GREAT, something that goes beyond his reach. Walker is a "damaged good".
So I wouldn't trade Scal for Walker.

The numbers indicate very little difference between Toine and Scalabrine - with Scalabrine being better in many measures. Walker's usage rate is nearly twice Scalabrine's with much the same kind of miserable statistics. This is shocking to fans who sentimentally have a spot for Walker but it's the truth.
Walker is just one of those 'old' young players much like Raef Lafrenz. Walker at one time clearly was a ton better then Scalabrine. But he has fallen off the map. This is why there is no interest in Walker. We have slow unathletic tweener who can spread the defense with 3s (and unlike Walker hit a few of them).
