OT: Are there positives in when trolls lurk?

Post#1 » by campybatman » Thu Dec 18, 2008 8:33 am

Why do troublesome and ignorant posters post in threads for no other purpose then to run their mouths? I mean it's as if there's a wanted sign out front when their comments are unwanted and uninvited.

Also, is there a slang word for a poster that isn't an outside fan but one of your own and is just as irksome? That is to say, when you've one or more Celtic posters typically running their mouths for the sole purpose to antagonize, annoy or disrespect. I thought there was a more apt word than using butt hole (a.k.a. a'hole) or lowlife.

Some could say......take off the dress and grow a pair and stop being so thin skinned. Because someone is under your skin does not mean they lower then you in life, what it could mean you are too sensitive to this internet life, in other words.....stay on the porch if this internet yard is sooooo rough. 8-)

ps....do not flatter yourself with the thought anyone's sole purpose is to antagonize, annoy or disrespect you
I doubt you are that inportant to most....have a nice day. 8-)

I stopped taking it personal when the Celtics receive hatred, realizing I'm not part of the Celtics organization, I'm just a fan of a championship caliber team, so the jealousy and hatred is expected and nothing can be done about it. Why not just sit back and laugh at the haters? Boston has the most recent NBA title, so you know other teams fans are envious, expect hatred. If your team isn't hated, your team most likely sucks.

You know, it isn't so much the outside fans as much as it's the Boston fans. The Ignore List is okay but not enough. Hence, why I don't post in threads by Celtics posters who are now on that list. But, I wish that once they're added to your list, they no longer can post in your threads. Sure, I can simply ignore posters in general that I don't get along with because they dislike me. But, sometimes sitting back isn't going to help. I don't mess with posters but they readily mess with me. I can only defend myself since moderators tend to be indifferent and turn their heads to problems among posters.

The only time I can recall saying something that could've been taken wrongly was when I'd called out the Warriors franchise. Fine. But, there was some truth in what I wrote--like it or not. Other times, I post images for humor sake. Nothing wrong with trying to be funny as long as you don't offend someone. I think my joking is light.

^^^ I am probably on your ignore list but your just too thin skinned to post on a message board, IMHO. I have never put anyone on an ignore list. If someone is so bad that they needed to be ignored the moderators would boot them.

From what I can tell you just consider someone a "troll" as someone who disagrees with you.

Thirding that.

It's just words on the internet, nothing to be sensitive or get worked up about.

I am on my own ignore list. I can't stand when I post under the influence and have to come back and read it at a later date. Damn, I am such a messageboard flunkie.

Me, personally, I shoot barbs and fire shots over the bow of the SS Troll on occasion but I am used to it because I grew up in a rough section of the internet where they peddle sheep porn on the corner. Life was hard in those days, man. I mean, the porn dealers didn't even provide you with your own barbed wire and rubbing alcohol. We had to fend for ourselves, which wasn't easy, especially with our little 9600 bauds. Hell, I remember back in the summer of '98, a group of internet banditos were spraying our playground with full-duplexed ADSLs with 8-up and 1-down. We were only armed with 56Ks that were lucky to connect at anything faster than 28.8 kbs. Try having a flame war when you can't compete with the sheer firepower of your foe. Of course it isn't easy but you make due, adjust fire and attack with a one shot-one kill mentality.

Moral of the story: Don't waste bandwidth on cracker jacks when it can be better spent downloading freely available porn and running willy-nilly all over the internet.

If the verbal repartee isn't to your liking, though, you can try the "research and post with substance" route. While there will inevitably be some people who just don't like you, they should at least appreciate your contributions. If some Das Celticsbloggen dropout with a T-Rex sized brain and the class of a reverberating, wet fart on a church pew gives you any problems, just dump an intellectual steamer on their noggin and move on.

The internet is a wild, wild world. It's every man for himself (and his collection of porn links.) If someone isn't posting of substance, call them out. Tattoo a pair of tits on their back and treat them like your prison bitch. If they keep on with their whack-ass comments, politely remind them how they squeal like a pig during business time and take them behind the woodshed again. Eventually, through shear repetitiveness, they will finally get the hint that you don't tug on Superman's cape.

Treat the dolts like the dummies that they are. The only people who get upset with intellectual snobbery are the ones who can't follow along. That's a fact. There is nothing wrong with not knowing something. The problem is not knowing and pretending to be an authority by regurgitating group think, worn out platitudes and curdled breast milk. I am telling you, treat a troll like your bitch. You will be amazed by the results.

Seriously, if you allow yourself to be a target, you will be one. Like many things in life, the problem usually starts with ourselves.

Who's the poster that has a sig mentioning the people on his ignore list? lol The ignore list is so damn dumb. What are we 5?

"Oh I don't hear anything, is that the wind?"

Do some people toss and turn all night thinking wow that Prophet_C is surely some jerk. I'll show him!

"Problem at the office today honey."

"No, that's not it.....it's ...it's....(holds back tear) these d-d-d-d-d-damn posters on realgm. They are just jerks and I wish they'd just leave me alone. I can't take it anymore. I just want everybody to agree with me.....WHY WHY?....I'm going to my room."

lol

Wehhhhhhhh don't post in my threads. Grow a pair dude. I know I'm one of the posters that you don't like. I don't care. I'm not one of the best posters. My posts are brief and I try to make my point quickly. I'm sarcastic and I try to make people laugh. If I think something is stupid and I don't agree with it, I'm going to say so and I expect the same from other people.
