No team will win by loading up the 3's, even if they make them. After last nights game I came to realize that we are just BRUTAL in the paint. Let them shoot all 3's they want but nobody is getting to the paint. If someone does, you'll have 3 or 4 players trying to block the shot or foul the slasher. So it seems like the only way to beat us is to go down low, pray and hope to god that you have creative, magician slasher that can penetrate and score off the glass. We saw Toronto trying to do the same thing and beat us from the arc and it didn't work. Denver Nuggets beat us because most of their points came within the foul line or closer to the baskets.

Thank you for pointing this out.

This is the biggest reason why I'm glad Posey is gone. He turned the Celtics into a jump shooting team, that's not a recipe for long term success, it never has and never will be. Sure you can load up and hit 17 3's on one night, then go 3-29 the next game and be blown out. Jim O'Brien 52 pt loss anyone?

Here's a recommendation for everyone who sentimentally misses James Posey, when you go stalk the Hornets box scores to check his stats, always look at this one - 3 pt attempts

Why on earth is he shooting 10 3's? 19 3's in 3 games? Haha good riddance.

Good points...and again, I loved Posey last year, but I'm glad we've moved on. He certainly hasn't been the difference-maker in NO they thought he'd be...

I do not disagree at all with what has been said.

But something Tommy said last night really shocked me, humbled me. Actually it was a few things he said.

First, was the absolutely stunning comment that Rondo is only at 30% of his capability. He's still just learning how to destroy the other teams moral. He went into how the KG eye contact play simply demoralises the opponent. KG as a sniper and Rondo pulling the trigger with his eyes is a play that just crushes their moral. They had no idea of the risk they were facing. Not in the ballpark.

The second thing he said supported the point you all are making. At the end of the game in theory you want Pierce taking the last shot as he heads towards the basket and has two chances to score. Either he makes the shot or he gets fouled and scores at the line.

Last night we knew they had no answer for KG and we held him back to the end of the game. The confidence, coaching and team chemistry that implies are stunning. We win because we have those kinds of weapons and can use them when we want with no warning and no timeouts.

There is a reason we are winning games and we are the champs. I'm not sure I know what it is. The scarry thing for the rest of the league is we are still getting better. Both Perk and Rondo are nowhere near peaking.

And in the wings we have a host of young scrapers vying for a role.

I think what's helping this team right now, and what's going to help them in the playoffs is that Garnett, Pierce and Allen have the giant monkey off their back. They know if they play how they are capable, they can beat anyone, and they know they can mess up and hang their hat on tough D, and rely on each other at any given point.

I thought losing Posey would hurt, but everyone seems so much more comfortable now it's more than made up for it. Besides we are loving big game James in NO, hopefully it's enough to put us into the championship game, he put the finishing touch on a big game against SA last night, love that man.

Celtics are the best team in the NBA right now. Really hard to envision them not taking home the Ship... especially if they add Mutumbo.

I think the main reason we win games is:

1.) We play the best team defense in the league.

2.) No other team in the NBA has three future HOF'ers in their starting line up.
-Any one of those three and Rondo can carry a team on offense during any particular game.
-You go to the hot hand and let other teams pick their poison.

3.) We want it more than anybody else.
-These guys understand that this opportunity does not present itself very often in a players
career and they are playing for their legacy in the league.
-Before the season started people were asking if we were still hungry, I think we have the answer

4.) Confidence
-We don't get rattled when the game is on the line, we expect to win the close ones
-Our execution late in games has been almost flawless

5.) Luck
-No matter what, a fair amount of luck is always involved. (Avoiding injuries, etc.)
-I think Red is smiling on us.

To all the other teams in the league. Circle your calendars...we're coming to your town very soon and we will be bringin it!

Yeah James Posey is a 3 point shooter.

He also erases many plays defensively. Alone against us he stoped 3 offesnive plays, and on another drew an offensive foul.

It's cool that we're so good. But lets make no mistake, it would of been nice to hit a few more 3s last night, and it'd be nice to have Posey exposing ATL's inexperience while he plays defense.

Posey would be amazing for us right now since TA is healthy. Last year our promblem is we didn't have a healthy TA to bring it up the floor, and Ray Allen couldn't play isolation. Both of those are gone this year and Posey would be perfect for us. I wonder if we would have lost any games if we had Posey on our team right now.
