Rondo's Shooting

I know this is not the right time for this thread
but you have to trust me it is not reactionary

Rajon Rondo is playing at a higher level than he did last season, this is evident
he is our engine, we are at our best, when he is at his best, he is a unique player with a wide skill set
however his shooting, given the relatively small sample size (30 games) simply has not improved and it could prove to be our Achilles heal

he is shooting 22% on 2 point jumpshots and 28% on 3pt jumpshots

Image

i understand this is not a problem against weaker opponents when he can get to the rim at ease, where he is shooting 74% (3rd highest in the league, KG is second) but against higher quality opponents (clev, lal) he cannot get to the rim like that, the defense sags off, doubles down in the post on kg and perk and allows no driving lanes for ray pierce or rondo this hurts our offensive rhythm and is our biggest weakness offensively

in the playoffs last season we rediscovered eddie house in time to solve this problem, he came off the bench and spread the defense, forced the other team to respect his outside shooting, and opened things up for us

i still think we need a more concrete solution

thoughts/opinions/criticism welcome

and please, i understand we are the best team in the league, and the defending champions, and that Rajon Rondo is a great asset to this ball club and he is still improving and evolving as a player. I don't need to be reminded of that, but we and he are not without faults, this thread was made merley to open discussion and explore solutions

EDIT: just because i was looking at it, i included Rondo's hotspot chart

No Rondo is fine, yea he's not a great shooter but he's very capable of getting inside the paint.

The problem lies in the bench.

Rondo needs to be Aggressive in order for this team to Dominate--This has been stated MANY times already this season( by Doc and everyone else )....He picked up 2 fouls within the first 2-1/2 minutes of this game--thus, severely limiting his aggressiveness--making it easy for the Lakers to play defense against the rest of our guys....Those first 2 fouls were legitimate calls---unlike fouls 3 and 4.

But yeah, his outside shot sucks badly--I thought he worked on it all summer..?...

A team is in offensive trouble against a good defense unless it has enough guys on the floor who can reliably hit jumpshots (or "jumpshots", in the case of some bigs).

I'd be interested to see stats on how the team does with Rondo playing and KG sitting.
