Big Baby or Powe?

Who would you rather see Boston sign and which one do you think they'll sign? On the one hand, the bench needs more length so you can't sign both. On the other hand, it would deplete Boston's bench even further if you didn't sign either. If you can acquire somebody good for Scalabrine's contract, then maybe you don't have to sign either of them, but that's really the only circumstances and I don't see that happening. Davis would cost less, but he hasn't been very effective this year. I feel like Powe has regressed this year, so I don't think he'd be worth the money he'd be asking for. I'm torn at this point. I have a feeling Powe will be the one signed though.

Neither. Both are a dime a dozen. Undersized players with some skill.

If i had 1 to resign, it's Powe. But, we could surely find others to take their place.

On the first look I would be for Powe, BUT...

1) If baby develops constant mid range jumper
2) If Powe in a trade can give us good sf
3) If we sign a backup c(Mutombo, Smith, PJ Brown,?)

.....than my pick is Big baby

and playing pf, not center...

Powe without a doubt. He is undersized and not some super talent but he will always give 100% when he is on the floor. He is the perfect role player, IMO.

I'd have to go with Powe, especially if he returns to form this season, I've been a defender of BBD but I'd rather have the offensive presence in the post that Powe "can" bring than a jumpshooting pf. Either or, or neither is fine the way they they've performed of late, but both is redundant even if they have a different skill set. Still a long way to go, hopefully one of them will step up and seperate himself and make it an easy decision. I like them both as role-players, but the roster is forcing Doc to use them together which hurts both of them, they both could use a shot-blocking rebounder to play alongside on the second unit.

Its not even a question anymore. Powe is a much better player for the Celtics. He is much more intelligent then Baby because he knows what he's good at. He takes it to the hole and takes charges like no one else in the league.

Gone Baby Gone

I think Baby is gone in a month or two if not sooner. Danny is just trying to showcase him the best he can before trading him.

Powe to stay. If DA was to make a trade the players I would look to let go are BBD, Scal, TA and a choice between Walker and Giddens.

Yep, it seems as if the Baby is getting the same treatment Blount got at the end of his career here: minutes earned for the wrong reasons as he's showcased for a trade.

The thing is he's a free man in a few months anyway, so there's not much value that can be pumped into him--or incentive for Doc to play him more than he's earned.

I suspect all the while Doc is playing Baby, he's begging Danny for another big guy he can play instead. And he should get that soon, at which point Baby's minutes are endangered.

And I keep Powe over Baby any day.

While I agree that neither is ideal, Powe is a lot better than Baby. I get the feeling we might be playing Baby now because we intend to put him on the trading block. Not that he is really increasing his value. The small PF that we need goes by the name of Ryan Gomes.

Big Burger is my choice ---- to be released/not re-signed.

And to the person above, players of Powe's quality do NOT come along very often ... especially when you are picking at the end of the 1st RD.

Baby has only shown when he's played with the bigs against a team with no bigs (AKA Detroit). His game looks more and more sub-NBA every game. He's a frustrated player at this stage of the game.

That said, Powe is even more undersized since his game is in the paint, thus he can only play well without a shotblocker.

Guess I'd stick with Leon.

Powe is playing a better now, but not by much. People are forgetting that Big Baby is playing out of position. Davis is not center.

Doc needs to find some minutes for POB and stop this experiment with Powe and Davis in at the same time. I would like to see POB as the back up center for about 10-12 minutes a game and Davis and Powe battle for minutes at the backup PF spot.

I think everyone here can agree that playing Big Baby and Powe at the same time hasn't been effective.

Exactly. Plus everything you need to know is in their conditioning. Baby lost 30 lbs coming into last season...coming into this season, Powe looks even better while Baby looks like at best he maintained last seasons weight (even though Doc and Danny had said last year they'd like him to lose more) and at worst gained some back. And his shot still sucks...you would have thought he'd practiced it over the summer instead of basking in the glory of winning a title as a rookie...
