Fully expected. Not surprising. No to Antoine.

I saw it coming, he used the Ty Law strategy. The one where he says one team (Pats) has been calling him so he can sign with another team for more.

Not surprising really. Mutombo's 1st choice was always Houston, it was just a matter of them clearing space to sign him. And they really needed him as Yao was their only player with length.
It's the same with Mourning. If he's coming back, he's going to Miami.
So we have to hope that PJ decides to come back or maneuver a deal for Joe Smith (will be hard since a lot of teams are interested and we don't have an expiring contract to offer). What about bringing back Scott Pollard if we're unsuccessful is acquiring the players I mentioned? He isn't spectacular, but if he's healthy (should be since he hasn't played basketball for a year), he can give us length, solid low post defense and he already knows the system.

I don't think I'd put the Mourning situation in the same category as Mutumbo. I could see Mourning coming to Boston. I think that he would have to play too many minutes if he were to resign with Miami. There would be much less stress if he went to the C's where he'd be a backup.

I heard Mourning talking about going back to the Heat quite casually on ESPN not too long ago. I think it was during either the Miami vs. LA game or during the Miami vs. Chicago game. There's no doubt in his mind he's going back there. Boston or anyone else for that matter aren't even on Zo's radar screen. Fogetaboutit!

Miami would give him as many minutes as he wants/can play. He has a home in Miami and he probably wants to retire in Miami. He already has a ring so that's probably not as important to him. I think it's pretty much a given that Mourning returns to Miami if he comes back.

lol - give it up, I already posted a link to that interview in cfan79's thread about Mourning to no avail. He'll continue to be on the Mourning trail until the day he signs with Miami.

It would be NICE to get Mourning. I think if Miami is not going to make the playoffs and Zo really wants to come back then we probably have as good a shot as anyone.

PJ brown also said he didn't plan on coming back.
Here's hoping Joe Smith ends up on the celtics

Well Kevin Garnett's best friends in the game are Sam Cassell, Chauncey Billups, and Joe Smith

Did anyone else catch Tommy's comments pregame last night. I think Greg Dickerson and brought up Mourning as a possibility to which Tommy opposed. I forgot what he said but he clearly did not want Mourning. I wonder why, age and health or other concerns? Zo was my favorite player in the NBA for a long time so I am biased on us getting him, but I was a little surprised by Tommy because I half expected him to want Zo.
