Maggette?

On the home page, there's an article about seven players available via trade. Given that Philly's within our division, I'd say they're out, and I'm not sure any of the other players listed really help us all that much. With one exception: Maggette. Not sure if Golden State would make this trade, whether they're trying hard to get something back, or just want to dump salary. But, here's an idea in the event they're just trying to shed:

Incoming Players
Glen Davis
6-8 C from LSU
3.7 ppg, 3.0 rpg, 0.7 apg in 16.2 minutes
Sam Cassell
6-3 PG from Florida State
0.0 ppg, 0.0 rpg, 0.0 apg in 0.0 minutes
Tony Allen
6-4 SG from Oklahoma State
8.0 ppg, 2.1 rpg, 1.2 apg in 19.7 minutes
Brian Scalabrine
6-9 PF from USC
2.1 ppg, 1.0 rpg, 0.4 apg in 9.5 minutes
Outgoing Players
Corey Maggette
6-6 SF from Duk
19.1 ppg, 5.7 rpg, 1.8 apg in 34

If need be, maybe we replace Baby with Pruitt.

Anyway, we bite the bullet and sign Antoine to replace Baby, and the rotation looks like this:

Perkins/O'Bryant
Garnett/Powe
Pierce/A. Walker
Allen/Maggette
Rondo/House

Of course, the main downside is that our defense certainly gets worse, as Tony Allen has remained if nothing else very potent on that end of the floor. But, it takes care of our scoring, and I also believe that O'Bryant would flourish if given more minutes. He can score, block shots, etc. And if Bill Walker and/or Giddens get a shot and play their way into the rotation, Antoine becomes Scal.

As for Golden State, they get out of a deal with four seasons left on it, and get a look at Allen and Baby in the process. Yeah, the C's are then committed to Maggette for a while, but in the worst case scenario, he replaces Ray for a few seasons after we deal him away/don't re-sign him.

POB, Powe, 'Toine, Maggette, and House is your solution for our bench? That looks like one big coaches headache.

why maggette? plz, the guy is makin 10 mil a year for what? 4- 5 years?

why not just trade for ricky davis who is signed for 2 years a 2 mil , who we can probably get him for scalabrine and pruitt/ a second rounder

it kills 3 birds with one stone, get rid of scal, free up a roster spot for the eventual big man, and get a cheap small forward who does what maggette does.

nevertheless i would just rather bring bill walker up and play him

All excellent points. I like the Ricky Davis idea, except that Doc has (by Doc standards, at least) trashed the guy ever since he left. But given that Ricky is crazy, maybe he thought Doc was joking. Also, from what I've been told (by a former employee of the organization, no less) is that Wyc absolutely loathed Ricky because of his attitude towards Pierce and his off-court...er, habits.

The guy I'd really love to get my hands on is Gerald Wallace, but I'm not sure how that would happen. Not sure why Charlotte would want anyone I mentioned, or why they'd want a guy like Maggette in a three-way trade. Still, he's basically a younger, less-clutch (which is to be expected, since he's younger) version of Posey. Defense, scoring, a guy Gorman's often said would look great in green. Also, there's your long wing off the bench to cover Kobe and LeBron.

I still say if Scal and Baby go, Antoine would be a good replacement. And only if Scal and Baby go.

Thats not the reason at all he likes it in Oakland, the front office wants to deal him to free up cash. It was a knee jerk reaction when they signed him because they lost Baron. And I would be down with the deal.

Plus, if he was here with Antoine, it might be the first instance in NBA history where two players accidently tear each other's arms off while fighting for the ball behind the 3pt line.
