MIAMI BEACH, Fla. (AP)—Former NBA player Antoine Walker has been charged with suspicion of drunken driving in Miami Beach.

Police say Walker was driving a black Mercedes without the lights on when he was pulled over early Monday morning. Police say officers smelled alcohol and that Walker looked sleepy.

Police say he refused to take a Breathalyzer test.

Walker was a three-time All-Star forward for the Boston Celtics and helped the Miami Heat win the NBA championship in 2006.

Walker struggled in 46 games with the Minnesota Timberwolves last season. His contract was bought out by the Memphis Grizzlies in December but he hasn’t played this season.

Walker was being held on a $1,000 bond and did not immediately have an attorney.

I would probably still bet he would be more successful in the field sobriety test then the free throw line test.

This would seemingly end the small hope of another return of the Wiggle in Beantown. How does it work if you refuse to take a breathalyzer? I've always heard that if you are drunk and refuse to take it than it is worse or as bad as failing it. But then I see Clebs refuse all the time.

I think it varies by state but I know a lawyer who has repeat offender clients and they actually call him up when they get stopped to ask if they should take the breathalyzer. He starts counting and they stop him when he gets to the number of drinks they had, then he tells them whether to take the breathalyzer or not.

Basically, you only want to decline it if you're so drunk that people wouldn't believe it without the breathalyzer number as proof. That's the only time it helps your case.

A DUI didn't stop Ainge from signing Posey. That being said, DUI or not, I don't think Ainge would sign Antoine anyway.

He was never going to be signed by Boston because he's a terrible player. Sentimentalists need to learn how to LET GO.

hate to say it, but maybe this is why his career is over at like 32 years old...Does he have the Vin Baker disease?

I wonder what is next or Antoine. He left a lot of money on the table in Memphis so he must have figured he would get picked up by someone. But who? And does this DUI not hurt his chances? What are the odds he plays in the NBA again?

From what I remember, he got 95% of his salary as a buyout. Not exactly a lot of money by their standards.

I remember when Antione was in Boston in his early twenties. Pitino was coaching and had a weekly show on FSNE.

Both Pierce and Antione appeared as guests and the interview revealed that Antione did not drink (AT ALL!) and that Pierce was the party animal (pre-stabbing.)

And I dont think he's ever had a major injury.

Only 7 players had Walkers numbers(15647 pts, 6891 Rebounds, 3170 Assists) before 31 ( granted, he came out early ):

Chamberlian, Erving, Jabbar, Garnett, Barkley, Bird and Cunningham. All better then Walker, dont get me wrong, just showing he put up some good numbers ( thats the problem, always concerned with the Numbers ) in his earlier days.

Imagine what would have happened if he stayed in shape and wasnt such a gunner.
