Was last year an exception to the norm?

So...is anyone else worried last year was an exception to the norm for te celtics of the last 10ish or more years?
Are we destined to begin sucking again? I hope not....I am well over supporting a team that blows!!! (I also follow Richmond in the AFL....any other aussies will kno what I mean!).
We had an amazing year last year.....but traded away our best prospect for the next 10 seasons....Big Al....are we on a down hill slide now....to basements...mediocrity.....the old road?
If we aint....why not? Ageing stars......bench with no real hidden gems or potential allstars.....Perk can hold an end up with support....and rondo DOES benefit fro m3 all stars around him....luv the guys, but he aint an all star....and is obvious he will never be a consistant scoring threat. Doesn't make me feel great is all I'm saying.

Thoughts? And be nice!!!

We are 29-6. And I expect at least 3 more good years from our big three, so I am not worried about that. We also have a very good cap situation for 2010.
That is why Posey wasn`t resigned. Because financial flexibility will be the key for this team when Ray Allen expires. You don`t give role players on downhill of their careers long MLE deals.
Danny knows what he is doing. I am sure he has a plan, just as he had one when he took over and executed it perfectly. He will do everything necessary to keep this team on top...

Last year was unbelievable and special outside of the 1st 2 rounds of the playoffs when we really struggled. But it was a great season and the end result was awesome and long over due.
But you have every right to be concerned with this years team. People are slowly undertanding the big loss of Posey and Brown. Posey wasn't a great player but he was a great role player for this team. He did so much. He played 2, sometimes 3 positons on the floor offensively and defensively. He was a great locker room guy and a great leader. He was also clutch and allowed us to play different styles. He was like a three player in one. P.J. was also important for us.
Now we have a bad bench without those guys. We have players in our 9 man rotations that wouldn't crack the 10 man rotation of many good teams.
Also age is becoming a factor. KG is showing signs of slowing down. Doc is talking about reducing his minutes even more than what he is playing. He was a no factor in G.S. and also a disappointment vs a small Knicks team. KG has probably played his worst 10 days basketball stretch in over 10 years. There is no one here that can tell me that KG is a better player now than he was 3-5 years ago.
You have to also acknowledge that the Lakers and Cavs have improved over last year and we haven't. If we keep our team the same, there is no way that we will have home court over these to teams. And considering now bad we played on the road in the playoffs and now bad we have played on the road in the last 5 games, there is a very little chance we will win it again.
With that being said, I still think we have a chance if we add a few more pieces. But what pieces can we add? Who will we be able to acquire? We don't have much to trade with. We will have to wait and see what happens.

Is this thread serious? We are 29-6 and lost 4 out of 6 IN JANUARY after playing the most brutal schedule in the league in terms of # of games, # of back to backs, roadies, and quality of opponents...

The C's are the best until they lose four games in a playoff series.

Yeah, the Knicks, and Warriors are really good teams. They might face each other in the Finals this year.

Stop yelling at me.
But seriuosly, Rondo still can't make an outside shot, TA means lost and is playing with no confidence, House is useless when he isn't hitting, and our back up bigs aren't that big.
This team has issues it needs to address. Any way you put it, we aren't playing good at all in the last 2 weeks. Everyone knows what this team is missing. Unless then, we will be losing more and more games to teams that we would've beaten last year.

2 things I think are significantly different going forward as compared to where we were a few years ago.
First, I've felt we've always had a big 3 in terms of contracts, but many of the contracts have been really bad players, or injured players. Ratcliff, Lafrentz, Wallyworld, Baker, we've had a ton of money tied up over the years on players contributing very little in comparison to their contracts. That's no longer the case, and we've got staggered contracts expiring for good/great players, each of whom could continue to contribute, or be rented at the end of their contract in order to reload the prospects.
Second, up to a point Ainge was either rebuilding through the draft and allowing those players to get better, or stocking up assets to make a big trade. Especially with the staggered contracts of the Big 3, I don't see Ainge building up the same volume of tradeable assets as before, where a plunge in terms of standings was almost desired.
It takes a while to rebuild the prospects in a team, but in short time Ainge has put in place a potential depth players at every position, although it's likely some of those players won't make it in the end.
A bad bump in the schedule always makes you wonder, but I think the Celtics are well positioned for a few years.

Dude, they are quality teams with injuries and growing pains who do have some talent....and we were playing them on the road, which is always tougher in the NBA (unless you're the Cavs or Lakers). It's not like we lost to the Wiz or the Clips...
