D Miles- Served his 10 games & is a FA

Post#1 » by Youth4Glory » Wed Jan 7, 2009 6:21 pm

As per the wiretap Darius Miles was cut by Memphis, not quite sure why, after only playing in one game, but the key here is that he served his 10 game suspension. I'm not sure why the other thread was locked, but this guy is now available.

How about move sam to coach and bring him in again?

Or call up our D Leaguers.

I'd rather not waste the roster spot if it becomes available on a gamble like Miles coming off of his injury, we need an inside presence and a playmaker more than we need.... well.... whatever it is Miles would bring. I know he has the potential to be a good defender, but I see no reason to bother with potential on this team, get some vets who bring what we need.

Why not bring in Miles? He's young, long, and from all accounts was a model citizen in his short time here...dump Davis and bring in Darius!
It's still 17 to 11!!!!

My apologies for locking the other thread; I didn't realize he had been cut. On the topic, meh, if they wanted him, they would have kept him. He doesn't really help our bench. He is a 15th guy at best right now, and we need a 7-10 guy who can consistently score.

Depends on the shape he's in and if Danny/Doc thinks he good be solid enough defensively to guard larger SFs.

Also, since they play a similar position, what's the status of Ruben Patterson and Bonzi Wells? I don't know about Patterson, but Wells is under contract in China. Would either/both be available to us?

It'd add length to the bench, but I don't see him being anything more than a backup PF and we already have Powe. I don't think he has the frame for a center, either, and he doesn't have the size or athleticism of POB.

He's Posey w/o the jump-shooting.

Despite missing Posey, I think we have bigger needs at backup center and maybe backup PG as well.

The guy they cut him for, Livingston, is the guy I think we need. It certainly was nice of the Grizz take care of that nasty suspension issue for Miles though I am sure the Blazers are thrilled.

Bring him back, height, energy & defense on tall SFs. Can also play a bit of 4 with an uptempo lineup.

It looks like Miles will re-up with the Grizz, I think the Grizz were just doing Miami a favor by clearing Livingston's whole salary off of the books they are up against the lux tax. This way the Grizz can bring Miles back on a 10- day.

Uhh, Darius Miles was a pretty good player before his injury. It looked like his career was about to really blossom in Portland, but his knee right now is bone on bone action. Two doctors called his injury career ending, and so far he's had short stins with Boston and Memphis, who both cut him.

Does that tell you something? And you guys are getting excited about signing him? Hey, you know, Bernard King, and Danning Manning are available too!

he needs only two more games to count against the cap for portland. lets ten day contract him up and extort for travis outlaw for scal tony & giddens or filler

p.s. how can Nick Collison have 40,000 more all star votes than for perkins at center. albeit different conferences, but come on, NIck Collison. Is it kansas/okc people really have nothihg better to do than vote their newly adopted awful players from a 6-22 team to the all star team. give me a break, not to say that perk deserves to be an all star. just wow i guess

I wouldn't care even if we got nothing from Portland, I'd just want to screw them over because A) they are not the Celtics (every team that isn't the Celtics is on my $#!T list) and B) to get back at them for their punk-ass comments last week!
