Jason Kapono to Boston?

From the Raptors board:
S.I Chris Mannix was on the Jim Rome show yesterday and he said there a raptors celtic deal rumor in the works that would send kapono to the celts for brain scalabrine.
Now, the salaries there don't match. Tony Allen or Eddie House would have to be included to match salaries, but I've heard that House has a no-trade clause (like Devean George did), so it would have to be Allen.
Would you guys make an Allen+Scal for Kapono trade?
EDIT: After some playing around, it looks like Scal plus two of Giddens, O'Bryant, Davis or Pruitt would also work. Now, Bill Walker is likely the guy that most Toronto fans would want, so a Kapono+min contract for Scal+Walker+2 min contracts also works.

I would do Scalabrine & Tony Allen for Kapono in a heartbeat. I'm just surprised the Celtics would have any interest in Kapono's salary.

Acquiring Kapono - Nice
Losing TA - meh.
Getting rid of scal - YES!
I would do this trade.
Edit:
Oh that would be better. I don't want to lose walker either.
But Giddens, O'Bryant, and Scal for Kapono would be awesome.

Just speculation.
http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2009/b ... ble/1.htmlChris Mannix: The book is out on the Celtics: Defend the Big Three as best you can and make the likes of Rajon Rondo and Tony Allen beat you from the perimeter. The Knicks and Lakers added new pages when they utilized bigger players on Rondo to negate his ability to drive to the basket. Rondo scored just four points on 1-of-7 shooting in the Celtics' loss to the Knicks, who defended him with the 6-foot-11 Jared Jeffries.
One potential solution to Boston's perimeter-shooting problems is languishing in Toronto: forward Jason Kapono. Consider this deal: Boston sends Brian Scalabrine (who has one year remaining on his contract), Eddie House (who has a player option for 2009-10) and a conditional draft pick to Toronto for Kapono. The trade frees the Raptors from Kapono's contract (which runs through the '10-11 season) and gives them coveted cap space to re-sign Chris Bosh in '10 and acquire some talent to play around him.
In Kapono, Boston would get a career 46 percent shooter from three-point range. Though a below-average defender, Kapono has championship experience (he was on Miami's 2006 title team) and is regarded as a solid locker-room guy. And since Toronto has the roster spot to absorb a two-for-one deal, Boston would be free to bring in another backup point guard -- Damon Stoudamire, Eddie Gill and Doc Rivers fave Darrell Armstrong are available -- or wait to see if the Raptors, hoping to get a break on House's player option, negotiate a buyout with House.
This trade wouldn't preclude Boston from searching for a backup center, either. The Celtics could use the vacant roster spot created in the Kapono trade or cut Sam Cassell if a big man becomes available via buyout after the Feb. 19 trade deadline.

If this happens, Walker better not be included.

Let's throw in Davis for some cash, so we can use that on Joe Smith!

This does not even qualify as a rumor. This is just a trade idea. People don't like clicking on threads link thinking it is a rumor when it is just a dumb trade idea that will never happen.
FYI Here is what the title of this post should read.
TRADE IDEA: Jason Kapono to Boston.
You're welcome.

We could have just signed Posey and have the better defender.
So why make this deal?
Why give up "assets" and sign a lesser player (who costs more per season, but 1 less)?

Joebiscuit, if you look at what I quoted, this is third hand information originating from someone who said it was a rumour. I'm as skeptical as you, but it's not as if I'm coming in saying "Hey guys I have an idea...".

How does this not qualify as a rumor that is exactly what it is?
Anyway, Kapono's contract is awful his jumper is sweet. He can handle the ball as a defacto pg on the second unit on the down side he allowed a 26 point night to Yi's chair defensively.
It does appear that the Raps have an open roster spot. So a deal like Scal/Giddens/Cassell for Kapono with them saying goodbye to Sam I am immediately would work. They would save 12 mil swapping Kapono for the Veal sandwich, and would be on the hook for what is left of Giddens 2 mil guaranteed to take a look at a young athletic SG.
Not exactly a dream come true but it does open up a roster spot as long we don't resign Sam.

Age is one factor but more importantly signing Posey did not unload Scal. In the senario I described I don't know exactly what "asset" we are giving up. Under no other circumstance do I think you could trade Scal, Giddens, and Cassell for anything. By this time next year Kapono is probably a tradeable asset if he is effective.

Since when would TA, BBD, or Scal be "assets"?

We need BBD for simple fact that we have no one else who can play center.
I would trade TA, and Scal for Kapono in heartbeat though.
I hope this trade rumor is real, but I don't believe it.

Read the first line. This is just a round table dicuission on how to solve the celtics problems right now.

I'd like to see a Kapono for Scal, Sammy C, and Giddens deal. Toronto just cuts Sam and he comes back to the Celtics in 30 days.
Kapono adds an outside shooter that they really need. I know his defense sucks, but if the other 4 guys on the floor play good defense, perhaps they could curb his crappy d?
And lastly I doubt it ever happens. But it would be nice.

I'd love to see Danny package away some of his off-season mistakes.
Scals, Tony Allen, and POB.
We'd also end up opening up two roster spots.
