My nickname for JJ is "snail."

I gave him that nickname while he was still tearing up the ACC,
where at 6' 4" true height,
he set tons of shooting records,
and I pitied the Orlando Magic when they wasted a pick on him,
knowing he would hardly ever get to take his sweet stroke in the
much quicker paced (and taller) NBA.

I felt sad for the ACC that Redick was named their Player of the Year,
almost as pitiful as when the ACC named Chris Carrawell Player of the Year,
and Trajan Langdon got serious consideration when he played for Duke. Lame players.

Now I don't know what's sadder -

the Celtics reported interest in JJ Redick

or the Orlando Magic reportedly turning down

J. R. Giddens and Gabe Pruitt for him.

League executives say Ainge has become more persistent this week in searching out deals, but as a Western Conference executive said, “He just doesn’t have any players that anyone wants.” Yahoo! Sports

Stupid trade...I would never gave up Gabe for Redick...writers should actually watch our games, another offensive player which cant create his own shot, come one Redick...

For those who are calling him undersized, he is 6'4" right? Stop comparing him to a barely 6'1" Eddie House. That being said, if they were to do this, which I see as unlikely, they would also need a solid defender as well somewhere along the line. Reddick could stand in the corner and be that guy who can hit a freaking open jump shot. Something that for whatever reason, this team seems to lack severely. But outside of that, he brings nothing that will help this team.

If you were a GM for another team would you really have interest in any Celtics bench player after what we have seen? Ainge really has very limited options when it come to trades. We do not have the diamond in the rough like we did to trade for Allen and Garnett.

Ainge gambled with the bench this year by letting Posey go and keeping T. Allen. That has not worked because Allen is a player whos defense is overrated, he cannot shot and has about a 27 basketball IQ.

The only way help is coming is if Marbury is released and the Celtics pick someone up like Austin Croshere. They still need to remove at least 2 players from the roster. Even what I said above is a long shot.

This team needs to help itself right now and not rely on Ainge to make a move because no one is going to want our garbage nor are they going to want to help the Celtics improve especially when they looks so beatable right now.

Thank you Captain Obvious. Of course we don't have a talented young player like Big Al on the team. Most of our bench guys are guys we got through free agency, late 1st rounders and 2nd rounders. If we had someone like him we wouldn't be complaining about losing.

Hey if you can make ridiculous trade ideas all the time I can say stuff like that. :P

I also want to add that that article seems pretty spot on as well.

:D Good one, but you and Return2glory are really getting on everyone's nerves lately. We know our bench is awful. No need to kick us in the nuts and spit on us.

No need for sarcasm, I am pretty sure no one has said that.

I loved redick when he was at duke, and even I could admit he wouldn't translate well into the NBA.

Why are the Celtics going after Redick and *allegedly* Kapono? I live in Boston so I watch a ton of Celtic games, and to me it seems that they desperately need an anchor for the second unit more than anything. During this rough stretch the shots just aren't falling, but they have accomplished veteran shooters and I'm sure that will come around.

I was a little dumbfounded when I saw the Atkins for Petro trade. That's the type of deal the Celtics probably could have pulled off if they wanted to. Unless they get a veteran big who gets bought out or comes out of retirement, they are going to have to plug holes with unproven talent like Petro if they are to fix their needs.

I dont think Reddick or Kapono is the answer.

Giddens and Pruitt for Reddick has to be a Magic fans idea of inflating Reddicks stock

Reddick was a great college shooter but his game doesnt translate well to a more atheletic NBA.

If Doc is trying to reduce minutes for the starters, the answer maybe keeping two of Rondo, garnett , Peirce and Allen on the court at all times and sprinkling in the subs with them more often.

In the last 10 games, Doc has played the starters together for 24 Minutes a game. Maybe try rolling that number back closer to 18 ( 6 to Start the game, 6 to Start the 2nd half and 6 to end a close game). While running 2 of the non center starters blended with 3 of the bench.

Based on Lenovo stats, looks like Doc prefers 1 starter with 4 subs or 3-4 with subs:

http://www.nba.com/statistics/plusminus ... am=Celtics

2 starters with 3 subs would be a change in the rotation pattern.

Not that I believe this rumor, but one reason we would go after them is that in Redicks's case he hasn't played in 3 years and should be cheap, and in Koponos case he is playing poorly, though he is moer expensive. Redick might not be an NBA player but I fell bad for him. Even the guys who didn't make it in the NBA ususally got more of a chance than he does. Additionally I think its kind of crummy for a GM to basically not give a guy a chance to have a career and at least trade the guy if you won't use him.
