My chance to be cfan79

Post#1 » by sunshinekids99 » Wed Jan 14, 2009 5:53 pm

I don't want you having all the fun cfan, so I came up with a trade idea.

Here we go.

Celtics get:
Anthony Morrow
Marcus Williams

Warriors Get:
Glen Davis
JR Giddens
Sam Cassell
2 Future Second Round Picks

Warriors Waive
Rob Kurz or Jermareo Davidson

Why for the Celtics? Morrow is a young guy that is having a good season with the Warriors. Morrow is 6'5 and can play the sg/sf spots. Shooting 45% from the field and 47% from 3. And when he did start this year he was averaging 16 ppg on almost 50% shooting. Not much of a stat filler, but could provide a punch of the bench. Plus the C's get Marcus Williams. I still think Williams can play in this league and just got into Nellie's doghouse early.

C's Roster
Perk/O'Bryant
Garnett/Powe/Scalabrine
Pierce/Morrow
R.Allen/T.Allen
Rondo/House/Williams

NBDL-Walker
Inactive-Pruitt

Why for the Warriors? I have posted this on the Warriors board and both said it was a fair offer atleast. One poster wanted to take out Davis and the two second round picks and include Leon Powe instead. Something I just don't think Ainge would be willing to do. With that said in this deal, the Warriors would just cut Sammy C. And could sign back either Kurz or Davidson, depending on who they cut. They would get two young player right now in Davis and Giddens. And get two late round draft picks from the Celtics.

Biedrins/Turiaf/Davidson
Maggette/Wright/Davis
Azubuike/Randolph
Belinelli/Giddens
Crawford/Watson

Inactive-Ellis, Jackson, Kurz

I don't like it. We are hurting for size and I know Baby isn't doing well but atleast he adds some beef. Plus Danny has been able to draft some decent 2nd rounders.

I like the deal as long as we are positive we are getting a big through FA or whatever, since this is a 3 for 2 deal.

edit: Also, I'm not sure how much GSW would want Big Baby. He's quick enough but I doubt he would last long running up and down the court in their offense.

The board didn't seem to have an issue with Davis conditioning. They did think he maybe burried on the bench tho because of Nellie. But even so they still get Giddens and two picks.

I agree with you bosFceltics. The team would have to know a big was going to be available or one was going to sign (PJ/Zo?). Or if there is a slim chance that they feel Patrick O'Bryant is ready to provide minutes at the backup center spot. I think POB has looked better and might be worth a shot regardless if they make a deal or not.

I don't have any legit statistics (this is just from me noticing what's going on in the game) but right now it seems conditioning isn't a big deal for Davis but I mean normally he plays less than 20 minutes. It might be coincidence but the other day against the Raptors where he played well over 30 minutes, he was putrid.

I also agree about POB. I have stated in another thread that I wish he was getting the start over Scal while Perk is gone, although Scal has been playing well. Just to see what he's got.

I agree about the size thing. We really need either PJ to come back out of retirement or get another big body. When we go up against teams like the Cavs who will feature Big Ben, Z, Varejao, Hickson and maybe even Camby if they make the trade for him, we will be severely outsized. Only ones who are tall enough to go up against them are KG and Perk. After that, we have Powe at what 6'7" and Big Baby at 6'9". If we lose Big Baby, our biggest bench player is Powe. Well, I guess POB, but he never plays, so I don't think he's a factor.

Not bad SuperD, I'd probably trade for Randolph instead of Morrow though since we could probably get him for cheaper. As for the big man problem I think we could just sign someone to fill that void. Even if it takes begging P.J.

I'd probably try to hold onto Sam Cassell because Eddie House will hopefully be gone in a separate trade.

Scals, Giddens and Big Baby for Nick Collison.. OKC needs a sg and Davis give them depth. Collison's deal is til 2010-11, so they may take Scals. I like Collison's hustle and he has more length than Baby..

sunshine:

My type of trade.
My style.

Don't think that the Celtics would let Davis go
until the "Big" Wyc & Doc have referred to is on board.

Of course, this assumes that the Celtics have made their decision on JR GIddens.

We need a big, so we trade our 4th best big man plus 2 second rounders (which Danny has made the most of in past drafts) for a 6' 5" SF who can't crack a lottery teams rotation and an overweight / bad character point guard who half this board wanted over Rajon Rondo?

No thanks... And even if this trade went down the idea that Pruitt would be inactive is laughable.
