Wiretap: Celtics Haven't Asked About Redick

I can see why Ainge would ask about Redick. I'm all for JJ Redick, his three point shooting would be a godsend off the bench. Now that he's finally getting PT, 65% from three in January.. yikes. Three straight games with 4 three pointers made.
I also can see why the Magic wouldn't want to make a trade with us, the last thing they want to do is strengthen their top competition in the East.
I've always loved JJ Redick's game, I can see him taking over for Ray Allen once he's done. And don't say he can't play D, he has improved vastly in this area and has bulked up as well.
We need Redick, get it done Danny! Sweeten the pot! Otis is playing mind games..

Forgot to mention on Wiretap it says we offered Bill Walker and Pruitt for Redick, while on Magic board they had said it was JR Giddens and Pruitt for Redick.
Makes sense if we're trying to do some 2 for 1 deals to clear roster space. Making space for PJ Brown/Starbury to come?

The only question I have is Redick's defense....other then that id be all for it, the dude can shoot. Not sure if Orlando would do that deal though...

I might be reading too much into this but if the deal we originally heard about (Giddens and Pruitt for Redick) was thought to be not enough, maybe the C's were actually just trying to get a feel for the Magic and wait for what type of respone the Magic gave to the rumor. If they responded no and Redick isn't on the trading block (like they usually say), then that's one thing and it sounds legit. But what they said was the C's never actually came to them with the deal, and it sounds like there would be possibilites behind it now.
What do you think?
Personally I hope it's JR (not Bill Walker) and Pruitt for JJ. I really feel Bill Walker could come close to regaining the form that had him seen as a lottery pick before his knee troubles. I really don't want to lose Pruitt as I feel I have been one of his biggest supporters but I would love to see Redick in Green. And of course the open roster space is nice too as well.

Yeah I'd rather keep Skywalker over JR, just on potential alone. Walker has a much higher ceiling, and more size.
You know what, that makes a lot of sense actually if we were just trying to get a feel for what the Magic want for Redick. Heck, I'd do Giddens/Pruitt/Big Baby for Redick and filler, if we can for sure sign a backup big man ala PJ Brown. They can even have a 2nd rounder.. or I'd do Giddens/Pruitt/Future 1st for Redick, it would be end of the first round anyway..
All I know is we need to do the deal before Redick continues playing the way he's been playing and makes them realize they drafted him in the lottery for a reason.

Yeah I would definitely like to do the first deal you mentioned of Gidden/Pruitt/Baby for JJ/filler, and probably the second as well with the 1st rounder. I wish it could have been this year's (obviously we don't have one) just because of how relatively unimpressive this draft looks so far. But whatever, I would take our chances to get Redick here. DA always finds gems in the second round anyway.

I wouldn't include Walker.

I go to the University of Maryland and I have been having nightmares about JJ Redick being on the Celtics since I heard the rumor. Not only do I like Gabe, J.R. and Billy (who doesn't love a binky?) I can't imagine a worse thing to happen. When I went to UMD, we hated JJ so much that I remember chanting "F you JJ" at a SOCCER game against AKRON. We hated him so much we made him cry on National TV. Having him on the Celtics would be an even bigger test of my fandom than the 18 game losing streak. Regardless of what he could add, I honestly couldn't think of a worse situation for me than to have to try and root for JJ. In fact, I don't think I could. DON'T DO IT DANNY!

jj reddick is not the answer
while we need 3pt shooting
he provides little else
and is a liability in the other facets of the game

We have House. Why bring in JJ?

I don't necessarily think its a good idea to trade for him and put him straight into the bench group Doc tends to use
however... he could easily see heavy minutes with the starting unit, allowing Rondo, Pierce and KG to set him up for open looks
This would also give Ray a lot more minutes with the bench unit and really start running the second units offense through him

This report to me just confirmed my original thoughts when the original "rumor" was brought up. That the Cs wouldnt make this deal. Reddick hasn't proven squat at the NBA level and isnt as good of a propect as any of the guys discussed being traded for him.
