What would be prosaic coming from a 4th grader somehow charms sports fans when it is voiced by a sports star. I'm not picking on you, cyclical: it's a phenomenon of celebrity worldwide.

I love KG, but he's such a dork. You could see Pierce thinking, "Dude, stop embarrassing me and yourself."

I don't know... I find the childish aspect charming. I don't think just anyone can pull it off - I just dig the contradictions in KG.

Sometimes it's charming and cool, like when Shaq does it sometimes. But KG doesn't quite have the personality for it and the whole Pierce is the Super Man thing is getting a little played out.

He should do more with "The Truth", Superman is played out. Leave it for Dwight n Shaq.

I thought it was pretty damned funny, plus it's just good to see the chemistry.

As corny as that was, I liked the quote, "I'll be batman, I'll be robin, I'll be anyone you want me to be. I'll be the garbage man."

Honestly, I think it's genius. Of all of the Big 3, I kind of feel like Pierce is the one that has the most need to be recognized. He's been here the longest, through all of the tough times, being considered unworthy of holding the legacy of some of the best players ever on the most accomplished team in NBA history...so he's paid dues over a long road. He's never had the league-wide acclaim of winning an MVP or DPoY, and no one nationally has ever really acknowledged him as a possible best-in-the-game as he believes himself to be. I think that decisions like letting Pierce remain captain alone, and yes, things like having KG publicly acclaim him as Superman (even in an amusing way) do a lot for Pierce.
All of the Big 3 have done their part to make this work. I don't know many stars that would be willing to fall into the background as much as Ray has since he's been here. I don't know many stars that would be able to thrive in such a unique role where he's the Captain and has put in a decade of service, but most around the country credit someone else for bringing a title the way that Pierce has. And I don't know many superstars that would be willing to deflect glory from himself and push the spotlight to another to the degree that KG does. I think it's all part of their unique chemistry, and that it's a large part of what makes this particular team champions.

Well, NBA is children's sport.
