If Pierce were

Post#1 » by Celtics_85 » Sat Jan 17, 2009 4:10 pm

Five years younger, a great head to head of him and Labron would be like the second coming of Magic and Bird, but only in the Eastern Conference instead of East and West. The NBA hasn't had this kind of head to head since the two have retired, just an MJ lead Bulls dominating and then the Spurs giving a good run, and no great head to head.

Pierce is a great player and yes, he is a little past his prime, but a younger Pierce and LeBron wouldn't be a Magic and Larry:

First, he's just not as good as LBJ, Magic or Larry.

Second, he has improved his game in some ways over the past five years.

Third, they were a great matchup--but even then Pierce was taken out of playing to win in order to play the matchup--when LBJ was a teenager rookie and Pierce was in his prime.

Pierce is still in his prime, not past it.

Yeah Pierce is still just as good as he was 3-4 yrs ago in those iso situations. When he puts his mind to it, he still can score at will. Thing is, he's being asked to be more of a playmaker now to make his teammates more dangerous. He's one of the most complete, flawless players iv ever seen.

He's still very good, but he barely dunks it any more. He looks like he's lost some jump. But he still plays at an extremely high level, and his contract is an appropriate amount of years for what great play he has left.

Pierce has lost a LIL speed, and athleticism, but to compensate he's smarter, and more efficient. Perhaps you guys forgot about the duel he and LBJ had back in game 7?
