I just thought a quote that jaw-dropping deserves its own thread.

All kidding aside, Scalabrine had an across-the-board better stat line than Stoudamire, the man he was guarding. Teammates matter a lot of course, but from the numbers, Scal simply outplayed Amare.

Against the Nets, game 2, Rondo rebounded and threw the ball thru a couple of players to Scals who was, once again, beating people down the floor and he made the dunk.....

Tommy's comment was RR simply threaded the needle and threw the ball "INTO THE GUT".
Now, he was referring to our beloved Scals and I think that he's come up with a great new name...

THE GUT!

:D

Scal does have good lateral quickness for his size, which allows him to stay in front of guys. And he has been known to run the floor all-out for open opportunities. This is why Doc is starting him.

So why is Pierce's comment "jaw-dropping"?

Scalabrine has actually displayed some speed on the court of late. He was running like a race horse in the game against the Nets. I couldn't believe my eyes. Scal and Big Baby look like they have gotten in better shape of late.

Scal was great on Amare last night. I would have Perkins come off the bench when he returns. Scalabrine has played well and the team in 5-0 with him in the lineup. Perkins would add to the bench. I can see Perkins and Big baby playing together.

Truth is Scal has always been something of an underachiever. Coming out of college it's disappointing he never improved his game. Because he is white everyone just thinks he is a smart guy with zero physical talent. In reality he is a Walter McCarty type - a guy with some physical talent who hustled on the court but wasn't driven to perfect his skills off the court.

Scal is slightly more athletic than it would seem at first glance. I am always surprised even after four years at how surprisingly well he can defend a pick and roll

I couldn't believe my eyes watching him guard Amare! It was beautiful to behold.

Scal's kind of like Antoine in that he has very good quickness and agility for his size. He's nimble enough to stay with jump-shooting bigs. He's always done well against the Al Harrington/Amare Stoudamire types.

I don't really get the "jaw-dropping" stuff either...

Scal has milk bag arms.

Why do the Boston faithful cheer louder for this guy than for KG, PP or RA?

I mean Scal is a lucky journeyman.

Pray Perkins is coming back IMO.
