Hey guys, just wanted to post on another teams forums while my fanbase is going crazy because we lost two in a row (OMG NOT TWO)

Anyways, i just wanted say that i admire what the celtics have done as a franchise, past and preset.

I was just talking with a heat fan (who is bragging about their win tonight which is his right i guess). I was comparing how two teams brought in HOF players for the purpose of winning the chip.

While it seems like a success story, as both teams won the chip, I am more interested in the state of the franchise after they reach the prize. The reason why I (unlike most realgm poster fan boys) am so impressed with the celtics Front Office is because of the longevity attached to your way of manufacturing a chip. the common opinion in both the celtics and heat as they both "sold their souls for 'chips. I find this utterly misguided in your case while absolutely correct about Miami.

The difference between the celtic FO and miami is that miami had one shot, and they cashed in (which i give them props for) But Boston, not only cashed in, but have the chance to build a legimate dynasty, IF NOT THAT then atleast be competeing for the prize at the end of the year for at least another 3-4 years.

yea yea just a rant, but i would just like to say that not all fans look at boston and say "oo they bought their championship"
I applaud your FO, I applaud your coaching staff for being able to gel this team in one season, and I so hope that if orlando does ever get the chance to go to the finals that we have to prove ourselves by beating the celtics in a hard fought playoff series.

I was wondering what you make of the previous unsubstantiated rumor

of JJ Redick for JR Giddens and Gabe Pruitt.

I know it's a bad fit in that you have Pietrus and Bogans already
(minimizes Giddens attractiveness) and you now have
Anthony Carter behind Jameer Nelson.

But when that rumor first surfaced, I thought it was a fair trade,
but a bad fit for Giddens considering who else you already had.

Just wondering if you think Redick's agent may have been drumming up deals
to get his client out of Orlando, or where that rumor came from?

Anyway, the Heat seem to be playing Redick more,
and Redick is seems to be playing better,
since that rumor was circulated a while ago.

Jammer, I've seen you make this mistake in a couple of threads and not to be a stickler but it's Anthony Johnson who the Magic have at backup PG, Anthony Carter plays with Denver.

The Europe trip was a pivotal part of Boston's championship run which gave them the opportunity to bond together with less media distraction while playing overseas.

What was remarkable for Boston was that they were able to compete and win a championship in their first season together with Garnett and Ray Allen. That was huge. Because it took off any future pressure to win it all after the first season. Not to say the team could rest on their laurels but it gives you more confidence. That is to say, players feel that if we can win it once we can do so again.

This cannot be stated enough. Everyone knew boston was going to be good, but noone thought this group of (up to that point) individual allstars could become so dominant so fast. Not only did that take the pressure off going forward, but gave you guys the confidence and swagger to start thinking dynasty. Now I do think the perfect storm occurred that allowed you to be able to acquire those pieces, but the fact that you pulled it off, meshed the group into a defensive power house (which is incredible since noone would have associated defensive dominance with ray allen and the Truth) and were able to, and still are, able to sustain that type of play through a season and playoff run.

Like I said i know boston sports gets a bad rap (mostly its for winning) but boston basketball raised the bar in both on court play and FO brilliance.

Also, a quick qquestion.

You guys recently went through your midseason slump and recovered nicely. I think this is the make or break part of the season for good teams, when they hit that adversity how do they recover and move forward.

My question is, now that Orlando seems to be gong through their slide, (even though its only two games, you can imagine our forum "BLOW UP THIS TEAM") why do you guys think you hit that slide (was it inevitable) and what do you think your team did to recover in the manner they did? (was it a confidence issue? offensive/defensive execution? )



Basically what im asking is do you think your team got away from what made them dominant, or just hit that mid season wall?

I think it was that they were tired honestly. The Celtics played so many games in such little time the first half of the season it was kind of ridiculous. They played so many back to backs and had a couple 5 games in 7 days.

Once they got out of sync around the LA game; their tiredness really started to show and they gave up (or played at the best level they could...which wasn't much at that point).

Orlando will get it back, though. Bumps in the season always happen.

Lakers played us well and other teams caught lessons from that. The relatively long skid, was probably partially due to fatigue and what not as pointed out, partially to Rondo, rumored to be playing slightly hurt. It was also probably due to players not caring so much.

Last season, through the championship victory, we weren't the most reassuring team in the league, but our guys came through when we needed them to. I think this skid was due partially just to procrastination, eventually everyone realized that we couldn't afford to keep it up much longer.

The slump was due in part to overall team fatigue from playing the most games in the NBA the first half of this season. Also, Perkins re-injured his shoulder which put him out indefinitely. His absence affects the front court defense. If you look at the losing streak and subsequent slide in general and put it in perspective. Those losses weren't that big of a surprise. The Lakers for the sake of argument weren't going to lose at home and on national TV. Golden State's a tough team to beat at home being one of the top offensive teams in the league. Boston lost there last season as well. Losing in Portland was a somewhat surprise considering that Roy was out. But, like the Lakers, another team that was highly motivated to win against Boston based on what happened in the last meeting. As for the four game losing streak. The one game that stands out like a sore thumb is the lost at home to Houston minus Mcgrady. Nonetheless, both defeats at home for Boston were against teams, Denver and Houston, in contention for the top one, two or three seeds in the western conference playoffs. So, they're tough teams. Playing in New York and Charlotte isn't always a cakewalk. And Cleveland has been unbeatable at home.
