Watching the Dallas Mavericks...

As I'm watching this game and I see Gerald Green not playing, I'm not necessarily suggesting a trade but does anyone think Gerald would be more successful/effective on our team now rather than TA?

He would be a spot up shooter we'd love to have. And he would probably benefit a lot on the defensive end with this team.

He also wouldn't be expected to be TMac on this team anymore :D

On the other side of things, if this were a trade, (I'm not even sure if GG for TA would work under the salary cap) Dallas would get a slasher off the bench who can play some solid D and has already played legit minutes on a championship team, more than you can say for Green.

I guess what I'm trying to ask is, would you rather have Gerald Green on our team rather than TA? And would he be a good fit?

I personally think so.

Id take him over TA, from what I've seen of him this year he kinda seems to get it. His D is suspect but offensive he could be a good weapon off the bench.
I doubt anyone will want him cuz we got giddens and walker plus everyone seems to hate our younger players after we trade them. But ya id def. Take him over TA, whatever offensive skill TA had is gone, and his D isn't what it used to be.

Exactly. Everyone was so high on TA because there was the thought that he could replace James. I don't remember who said it but someone on the board said Scal has done a better job of playing James Posey's Role which I agree with to an extent.

I'm not saying bring in Gerald to play a lot of minutes off the bench. What I'm saying is he still has a lot more potential than TA and he would be a better fit in terms of ability on this team than TA as well.

The other thing is TA and Walker are so similar and walker is younger and and bigger. Then eventually we'd have to chose between Giddens and Green in the long run, and if Green finally does "get it" I'd love to see him as a Celtic off our bench.

The Mavs have Antoine Wright as their staring sg. They have other scrubs like like Matt Carroll, Devean George and James Singleton on the active roster. And Green is sitting in street clothes! Don't be silly, TA>>>>>>>>Green, it's not close.

Green can`t play this game! He will be out of the league next season, just as expected!

I would do a Giddons for Green Trade, Greens length is really something we are missing right now, I think he would play much better with the big 3 around to give him proper guidence and he still has all world athleticism.

He is too much of a liability on the floor because of his awful D, lack of bball IQ, lack of focus, etc. that it offsets any benefits from his shooting/scoring ability. TA may need to go, but certainly not for that guy.

I would also do a Giddens for Green trade.

But I have no clue what motivation the Mavs would have to pull the trigger on that one.

I'm surprised Matt Carroll isn't starting @ SG yet. He might not be great but he's an improvement over guys like Antoine Wright Devean George (and probably GG, I haven't watched him this season).

Come on now, Gerald is multi-teams removed from the Celtics, busting out team after team after team because of laziness, and lack of defense. If he hadn't played here, would anyone actually know what the guys name is? Would his name ever show up as a trade candidate?

No way Ainge brings back his biggest draft failure so can once again look at him sitting there in street clothes.

These days G$ just reminds me of what might have been: Danny Granger.

Tony will play a role in the playoffs this year, he's a tough defender that got lost offensively during our slump. If Ray or Paul suffered injuries this year(God forbid), he's the only one that could begin to fill the shoes on both sides of the ball.

I, for one, would hate to see G$ playing for the C's as it means that the team would be giving up on the idea that defense wins championships, as Gerald lacks the smarts to play team D.

Regarding Granger and Gerald, I always thought that Scals might be another Larry Bird.

Green is all athlete and no brains. TA isn't exactly a genius out there but basketball wise he knows the rotations and such on defense. Coaches cant take guys like Green who rack up mental mistakes. That's why guys like Allen and Scalabrine play and Gerald Green sits.

Giddens has hurt and hussle, that's what makes him a very good rebounder. On the other hand Gerald Greens lacks both heart and hussle and that's why he can't rebound or **** and won't ever live up to his expectations.
