Yeah, that's ridiculous. Cassell was the best PG in the entire league that year.

I disagree with the thought process used to assemble that list.

It really should be the players who were having average-like years (Maglorie), not players who happened to have a great year, but overall in their careers weren't really known as all-star level players...

So no, Cassell shouldn't be on that list. He totally deserved it the year he made it - so did a bunch of the other players on that list. For example, Rasheed Wallace should be on there for the 2006 All-Star game, IMO.

Pretty ordinary article. Every player on that list I think were justified for when they played. There is a big difference between being an All Star player who gets selected every year (KG, Shaq, Duncan) and those players who are rewarded for having All Star level seasons even if it was only once.

All Star reserve selections are determined by how a player performs that season relative to how other players at their position perform that season. Not where they fit into the history of the game compared to other players from different years and eras.

Steve Francis is on the list???? Not only did he make the team more than once, but he was a great player for quite a few years. Ya, he's seemingly done now, but that doesn't mean he didn't deserve to be an all star then.

I feel like this "author" would rather just see the same old people voted in year after year, even if they aren't having the best season.

That's one of the worst articles I've read in a while. His entire reasoning behind some of them is that yeah, they had great seasons during their all-star appearances, but they declined, therefore they didn't deserve it the year they actually put up stats. That's not how you qualify all star appearances, he was taking a hall of fame approach to it. It was painful to read that logic. I got halfway through and decided to make sure he at least got number one right. It's guys like this which is why AI is starting this year and why T Mac almost got voted in ahead of CP3.

Who was supposed to be in over Magloire? As poor as Magloire has been since then, he deserved it that year, because he was better than his peers. He then got paid, got fat, stopped trying, and seemingly forgot to how to catch or make layups. But at that time, he could play.

Exactly. The writer is a moron. Yeah, he doesn't take into account why these players were in there. For example, Tyrone Hill was one of the best rebounder/defender in the league when he made the allstar team.

I'm sorry but Tyrone Hill at the All-Star game was kind of a joke. Hill was a 13 and 10 guy that season. Horace Grant for example has a much better season at 15 and 11. Plus was a superior defender.

I'm in the same boat with Magloire he was a 13 and 10 guy. That is not an All-Star. LeBron James was the biggest snub that year.

Agreed that the article was awful, but Magloire seems like a fair inclusion. It's "worst" all stars ever, not "least deserving". Sure there wasn't anyone better, sure he was a pretty good player back then; but that doesn't mean he isn't one of the worst players ever to be on an all star team.

It's like Marc Jackson would have been the worst ROY ever even if he had deserved it and there were no other choices (yeah, I know Mike Miller pulled it out in the end)

Based on title alone, sure, but then that whole opening talks about "_______ over ________". Magloire might be one of the worst players to make an All Star game, but he made it on merit that one year. This article appears to be wanting those two things in together, and they aren't the same thing.

Where are you getting those stats from? Tyrone HIll made the allstar team in 1995. By then, Horace Grant was pretty trash and playing for the Magic. And he didn't average 15-11. His averages that year was 13-10 while Hill put up 14-11, while playing excellent D and helped the Cavs make the playoffs as they were transitioning into post-Price/Daugherty era.

You have to remember, these allstars are chosen based on how the players are playing that season. Not their entire career.

They didn't start playing the All Star game in 1991 they have been playing them since '51. They have been plenty "who the hell is that?"

Anyway Sam must have slept with this dude's Mom (that is creepy enough to make anyone hold a grudge) the real surprise is that Sam only went to one All Star game. If Sam is underserving then how does Chauncey Billups go 4 times?

Some of those are a joke.

Brad Miller - because he's a white mid-range-shooting player? Jesus, dude.

Of course, I knew it was going to be crap as soon as he said Rashard Lewis (ORLANDO) made it over Al Jeff (MINNESOTA, AS IN WESTERN CONFERENCE, YOU NINCOMPOOP).
