first ray's forearm got tangled up with fisher's hand. and then ray happened to run over fisher's feet. all incidental contact of course.

Sorry Boston fans, but Allen slipped on his own. Period. Refs aren't going to call a pussy call at the end of the game. Boston fans should know how many times Posey hand checked Kobe during the finals. Refs sucks.

good call, he did slip. but that clip didn't show the earlier hold. but anyway yeah the refs aren't going to call some pussy crap. fisher's a smart vet and knows it. just ask brent barry.

Guys, Allen slipped. Maybe tired legs, he was working his ass off all game long. I never thought Ray would still be playing at such a high level when he came to the C's, I thought he was almost done, he's flipping fantastic.

Coach Doc Rivers stormed the court, believing Derek Fisher had fouled Allen, but there was no reprieve against the same foe than ended the Celts’ 19-game run on Christmas Day. Kobe Bryant and his pals earned regular-season bragging rights, for what that’s worth.
“I thought it was a hand-check,” Rivers said of the final play. “The officials say that they don’t call the game different from the first quarter to the end of the game, and if that’s true, Ray should have been on the free throw line. I just thought it was a hand-check from the time Ray caught it. He pushed him all the way. Unless the rules have changed, you can’t do that.”

the non-call at the end didn't bother me nearly as much as the non call on Pierce. What was that? he was thrown to the ground and no call. If you're going to foul out our superstar on a ticky tack ( which was questionable to beging with) then to be consistent Ray should be at the line shooting 3. You know damn well that if it were tony allen guarding kobe he would be shooting 3 shots. I don't mind physical play but you have to call it both ways. we got nailed time and time again for the same fouls that weren't called on the other end

Re: why wasn't ray able to get an actual shot off in the end?
I agree about the foul, but was that really the best play that Doc could come up with?
That was TERRIBLE. Why not let Rondo pass the ball in bounds and have Pierce, Eddie, and Ray running off picks trying to get open for a shot or hit one of them going to the basket. If the best play he can come up with is to get it in and have it handed back to Ray coming in bounds for what is surely going to be a shot with someone in his face, then the Celts deserved to lose. It's ridiculous that most coaches can come up with a decent play that gets them an open shot at the end of a game, but Doc just can't seem to figure it out. If we had 15 seconds then fine that play works, but with 3 you need to make sure it's one pass and an open shot.

Are you joking? The Celts are one of the best teams in the league at scoring out of timeouts. Did you miss the Philly game? If Fisher hadn't stuck in elbow in Rays gut for the first 2 seconds of the play Ray would have got a shot off, but officials almost never call non shooting fouls that'll decide a game, it was a veteran move by Fisher to keep Ray from getting open.

Blatantly fouling a ballhandler on the floor in last seconds of close game = veteran move?
Cool, I hope the Celtics remember that trick in the future.

Like Ray's shot against the Sixers with .5 seconds left which Doc called coming out of a time out?

I am trying to understand some nba rules. The whistle is always blown on us for hand-checking. Fisher was like sexually molesting Rondo, Allen and Pierce. Maybe we should try on other opponents to see if the rule is existed.

Re: why wasn't ray able to get an actual shot off in the end?
Fisher gets away with those types of plays a lot, I guess that's why Phil loves him. As a Lakers fan, it frustrates me to no end that he keeps playing(and prefers veterans in general), but it's clearly evident that Fisher, as opposed to Farmar(and Rondo) gets treated very differently in these types of games. But then if he's going to take advantage of the refs like that, then I guess he shouldn't be complaining if our team does get robbed.
Refs do keep track of this however, so if there was a game the next day, our team would have had to spend an entire game making it up, like game 5 against San Antonio last year. NBA officiating, it's fantastic.
