BOSTON (AP)—The NBA fined coach Doc Rivers $15,000 Saturday “for verbal abuse of game officials” following the Boston Celtics’ 110-109 overtime loss to the Los Angeles Lakers on Thursday night.
Celtics spokesman Jeff Twiss did not immediately return calls and an e-mail seeking comment.
I'd have liked to have been a fly on the wall for that conversation... just got to say Go Doc!! on this one, **** the **** refs. I'm not saying they are cheating us as calls have been terrible both ways, but we've now seen 3 terribly officiated games in a row. I don't know how players can know what is legal when defending someone man-to-man the calls are so inconsistent. I'm starting to be of the opinion that all the ref's should be **** canned and trained monkeys should be brought in to do their jobs, saving the league salary dollars as monkeys can be paid in bananas. At least when monkeys bumble around with no clue as to what they are doing it is amusing to watch.

$15,000 ?....I'll pitch in $10 bucks to help Doc pay that fine off---Doc just didn't say enough in my opinion though.

Get off the board and get back to work so ya can get them Jordans chief.
Somebody really should organize a protest at a game, like everybody brings a whisltle some night across the league.

The NBA should evaluate REF's very carefully, As a fan you want all calls to be equal and we fans now what is right and wrong obviously Fisher was hand-checking Ray and that was a no call. The REF's are treating fans as if they know nothing about basketball. Maybe those REF's are better than Tim Donaghy.

Gee, when Phil Jackson whines he doesn't get fines, he just gets even more calls the next game (see game 3, 2008 finals...)

Good for Doc. that's 15 grand well spent. if nothing else it will force the league to take a look at some of the calls in that game more closely. there really were a lot of bad calls both ways, it's just that the most critical calls happened to go against us.

How many of the 10 losses this year have been ref-caused?

Are you that dumb? I wrote the officiating sucked both ways, where is the "moral victory" in that? Wanting the officals to be consistent is wrong? **** off troll.

I'm personally not blaming the refs for any losses, there's always something the team could have done better to not be in the position where a call can decide the game one way or another. I'm just saying they are so damned inconsistent and just down right bad at their jobs that something needs to change.

Normally you are not even responded to.....we respond to real Laker fans not Faker fans who only show up only after the fight....like you. This time I will only because you at least gave the credit that we are the Champs.

The Patriot Ledger reported that Rivers yelled at the referees:
“You should never be allowed to call a big game.” Rivers also publicly criticized the referees later to reporters, but not to excess, offering the opinion that the referees lost control of the game in the third quarter and allowed it to become “chippy.” Rivers also said Allen was fouled on the last play because Fisher was hand-checking him for an extended period. Orange County Register / February 7
Well said Doc......

the celtics should stand up for doc and pain this fine. it bothers me that stern and the nba NEVER allow criticism of the refs to go unpunished. it seems to me that Doc, Bob Ryan and others were totally justified criticizing these refs and that the league should apoloigize for the poor officiating. why not say it like it is. these guys are not qualified to ref in the nbdl. why not use replay more? make it lke the nfl where each coach has a number of challenges and if they're wrong they lose a timeout?

The problem is Stern runs the NBA and the refs the way they ran the media in Nazi Germany, the USSR, and the leftist USA of today...
**** the refs..I don't want the game decided by refs EITHER WAY...I want us to win or lose FAIRLY, not because of reffing...
