The SI issue is coming out tomorrow.

I can definitely see perk having a big head, but I would put Damon Jones number 1.

Perk's one of my favorite players but yeah, he thinks he's better than he is. Still, I'd rather have a cocky enforcer than a timid one.

Perk's problem is also related to the fact that his skills are defensive, and so they dont really show up in the numbers.

I didn't even know where Damon was playing until I read that poll

Perk doesn't think he's so great he just likes to think it, perhaps, if that makes sense. And its not like he's not a good player all things considered.

Damon Jones isn't ambitious enough to be so conceited, he has only ever really bragged about his shooting ability as far as I am aware. If you only consider his shooting in the past and not his all around game he's not all that conceited, per se.

I only said Damon, because he is the only one on the list that refused to play because it was garbage time.

That is the most stupid poll I've ever read. Perk has been GREAT playing in the shadows of Paul, Kevin, Ray and Rondo.....perhaps he should have held out for more money or bitching that he should be incuded in the BIG FOUR???

Perk is a pretty confident dude on the floor and clearly he is no ALL STAR.....but realy, PERK has no business being near the top ten on that list compared to 99% of the NBA..

Clearly people are hating on the worst starter on last years championship team....unwarranted and unfair.

the only thing i could think that perk ever did to get on that list was gripe at the refs a lot. which he does, and i wish he wouldn't. but besides that... it's totally absurd. perk is the ultimate dirty work guy, who makes the most of limited raw talent. he's never once complained about his role, his pay, nothing.

weirdest poll ever.

Perk and Stevenson top the list.

Stevenson volunteered to go to the bench this year because he though the young guys on the bench are better then him right now...

Then Dahtay is on it. He's just happy to get one commitment from a team for a year in teh NBA. Doesn't play enough to brag about himself.

I love Perk's attitude. He doesn't care about his stats, or making ESPN, or trying to go outside his limitations (actually, from all accounts, he has more shooting range than he lets on in games).

He also doesn't give a crap about the "big names" of the league. My favorite quote of all time from a basketball player actually happened when Perk went up against KG while he was still with the Wolves a couple years back...someone asked him after the game (a Celtics win) what he thought about being out on the floor with Garnett and he just shrugged and said "we all put our shorts on the same way." That quote just captures Perk's blue-collar attitude and game in a nutshell.

I'm glad we have the big guy on our roster, and if others mistake that for him having a big head (when it's the other way around), that's their problem.

Agreed and agreed...

I just hope he never starts to think he's a good offensive player the way BBD seems to...

Kendrick Perkins is trash. The only reason he thinks that he's good is he has Garnett's D' backing his sorry *** up when he makes a mistake. And Damon Jones is trash too.

Love this comment, because it shows just how little most people actually know about Perkins and have a fair evaluation. We've all been able to tell that it's Perk backing KG up on D. KG can only do some of the things he does on this team because Perk's there to back him up.

Overall, I think Perk is underrated around the league, by fans, and through the media; however I'll agree he probably thinks he's better than he is, if only at least on offense. He shot that jumper against the Spurs yesterday with too much confidence, like he's done it hundreds of times.

Well....he should be happy to just get a one year commitment. Lately, he starts and averages more than 15 minutes per game. I've seen a game or two where it looks like by his facial expression he thinks he deserves his role. While he is somehow known as a really solid defender, he plays most of his minutes alongside the defensive oriented Nene and other Nuggets starters, and in place of JR Smith (who is, at least *supposedly*, a defensive liability) and the team is worse on the defensive end with him in the game (significantly worse in terms of eFG% defense). And his range of offensive talent kinda sucks, and shot selection isn't good either, really he's worse than Tony Allen has been this year on the offensive end. Turns the ball over a slight bit less, but shoots slightly worse and doesn't pass as well despite being called on for a lesser role.

Really, he's just lucky that George Karl is his coach and he the only SG the Nuggets have not named JR Smith.

Re: Perk, I wouldn't be surprised if he talks a lot of trash in the spirit of competition. I wouldn't be surprised if some of that trash talk is slightly overblown. I don't mind that, but I'm just saying this is a players' poll and the players have heard more from Perk's mouth than we have.

Perkins has to win for the comment re: Dwight Howard winning a gold medal. On top of that, he's apparently the one the knicks were crying about talking about having a ring.

Number 1 or not, 8% means that only 1 in 13 players poled thought that's the case. There's no overwhelming winner here... If you asked me I'd say Marbury by a landslide.

It's a good thing for the C's actually. You see alot of guys struggle when they lose confidence. TA and Rondo seem to suffer from confidence issues at times.

The Howard quote is priceless, especially because Perk is right on the money with it!
