Rondo and Doc Rivers had to be separated at pratcice, WTF ?

Half and hour after the game, they aired a footage from the C's practice facility in Waltham and they showed Rondo getting into it with Doc Rivers. Rondo and Rivers had to be separated and seems like Rondo was so mad, he even wanted to swing at Doc but KG stopped him :o .. it looked real serious.

Anyone knows what's this all about ?

Doc's job is to motivate these guys and get the best out of them, and he's pretty good at it. It's inevitable that once in a while the wrong button is going to get pushed. It's like teammates needing to be separated in practice once in a while, it's just part of the game.

I've heard about this happening before. In the story I heard Rondo backed down when he realized Doc was serious about letting him take a swing at him.

Rondo is pretty headstrong. That's part of the reason Sam is around. Him & Ray are the only two people he's deferential to.

For the record I have no problem with any of this. I'm just glad Rondo isn't somebody I have to deal with in real life.

there's no question that rondo has a chip on his shoulder which is both a good thing and a bad thing. Good in the sense that he's confident and feisty and bad in the sense that's he arrogant at times and stubborn. He's been regarded as a "hard case" his whole career. I thought he had a mediocre game last night ( 4 turnovers, forced shots, too much gambling on D) yet Doc praised him , Maybe that was Doc making up. I've said it before and I'll say it again- we're only as good as how Rondo is playing. When he plays well we're unbeatable; but when he plays like a punk we lose. He had some horrific turnovers last night where you just go Huh? How sweet would it be if Nash were to join us in a year or so as a back up PG? He and KG get along and I think Nash and Danny get along as well.

"Hey cajun do you know what 'shoot the **** ball means?'"

I don't know what that may have been about but if Rondo was pissed at practice can you imagine how pissed Doc was with Rondo's half assed and1 performace last night. I love the kid and he is real special but more Jason Kidd and less Rafer Alston.

Turnover... it's a funny term.....if you lose the ball say by getting it slapped out of your hands it's a turnover. If in turn a ref calls the same slap a foul it's not a turnover. Many turnovers we have imho could/should have been called fouls so I always take that stat with a grain of salt. One must watch the game to really know. 8-)

I can't speak for Bender, but from what bits and pieces I caught of the game last night, there was a pointless spot on the fast break last night where Rondo was uncontested on a 3-on-1 and decided, for whaterver reason, to dribble the ball behind his back with his right hand in mid-stride and bobbled it briefly before making the pass to the open man. It served no purpose and would have resulted in him being superglued to the bench if it went out of bounds. He also airballed (by about two feet) a fallaway jumper in the 4th IIRC.

I really wish I was a fly on the wall when the coaches tried to light fires under guys like Blount.

If you're talking about the wraparound dribble before he passed to House for a 3...I don't know about the reasoning involved, but it appeared to have the effect of freezing the 2 (not 1) defenders, and he didn't appear to lose control of the ball at any point, and the pass was crisp and accurate. Or was there another behind-the-back dribble?

As for the turnovers, every good assists guy ends up with plenty of turnovers.. Steve Nash, Jason Kidd, and currently Chris Duhon in NY are good examples. Usually the "magic" number for a pg is 3-1 assists to turnovers, Rondo is currently 451-143 on the season, or 3.15-1. Last night he had 11-4, almost the 3-1 mark. For comparison, on the season Nash is 449-174 (2.58-1), Duhon 408-144 (2.83-1), Kidd 428-122 (3.5-1), CP3 is 496-141 (3.52-1), Baron Davis 317-101 (3.13-1), and Calderon is 346-82 (4.2-1). That's pretty good company, especially for a guy as young as Rondo, and he's improved each year (2.16-1 as a rookie, 2.67-1 last season).

I could care less about Doc n Rajon getting into it, they're both headstrong pgs who think they're always right. The thing that bugs me is why the hell is there a camera there filming?

No kidding...I love Rondo's game, but maybe he should spend more time practicing his atrocious jump shot and less on his attitude...

I would have to watch the game and frankly I am not going to do that because it wasn't very good TV. But that 4 TO's for Rondo is crap I guess he doesn't get a turnover for causing a shot clock violation but he should.

They don't bother me in the your are going to break some eggs making an omelet concept, but last night we had unforced hot dogging TO's as well as some because he didn't shoot the **** ball and he pounded the crap out of the clock. He wanted to show Chris Paul up and that is a good thing but he let it get all school yard and if Paul was 100% he probably would have made him pay.
