KG and deep 2s
I'm thinking about this for a while, why KG instead of deep 2s doesnt shoot 3s? Its only one-two feet difference, and he could have learned to shoot 3s with 40+% accuracy, which would be amazing for a big PF. Maybe its too late now, but its bothering me a bit why he hasnt mastered it earlier. IMO he either should play a bit more in the post or move back 1-2 feets and sink 3s much more often.
Who would win one-on-one in HORSE?
Bird: Nobody beats me in H-O-R-S-E. Besides, Magic cant shoot.
Magic: Larry, you'd have no chance against me one-on-one. I've got too many ways to beat you. Plus, as slow as I am, I'm still faster than you.

His shooting form doesn't lend itself to that extra 2 feet imho

Re: KG and deep 2s
its just how he plays, always has
i was actually thinking the other day... could KG be THE best mid range shooter in history?
seriously, with the percentages he shoots year after year, and the amount of jumpers is in that number.. normally a big man wouldnt be thought of for something like that but he certainly could be.
anyway, back with the wolves i used to see him knock down the 3 on occasion, a lot of guys... d west, kenyon etc can all knock them down its just not a regular shot for any of them so they avoid it unless rediculously open or its really needed

I was thinking about this the other day too. Maybe he'll start attempting some as he gets older.

Re: KG and deep 2s
Because KG is smart enough to know
that 1 1/2 to two steps back would make his percentage tank
to a level worse than shooting from where he in currently,
even factoring in the additional point.
If you think this hasn't been studied/analyzed before by
team experts you guys are living in a cave.

Re: KG and deep 2s
I would suggest that the reason he does not go out any further is that he is a major threat closer to the basket as a passer and as a rebounder if he misses.
How often do you see KG open for the shot but back into his man and then spin and shoot. The reason is that he is looking at the floor for easier baskets.
I think his overall game would suffer if he wandered further from the hoop. If he was simply a Mark Blount shooter I would say.... sure step outside the 3. But he is asked to do so much more.

"I think the criticism's stupid," Stevens said. "So I don't care. I'm with Jaylen (Brown) on that. Those two had achieved more than most 25 and 26 year olds ever had. I'd rather be in the mix and have my guts ripped out than suck."

I think in 3 years when he is a shadow of his current self he might be able to extend his career a year or 2 by shooting the 3 and I would bet he will do that.

He isn't even the best mid range shooter on his own team. That would be Ray Allen. As far as big men go, he is probably one of the best all time.
As for whether he should shoot threes, I would prefer he didn't. I watched Antoine fall in love with the three, and it absolutely killed him, I don't want to see KG start to go down that road.

Re: KG and deep 2s
1-2 feet is all one would need to be taken out of their shooting range. It doesn't sound like a lot, but it can make a huge difference. When I'm just shooting around at the local gym, I can shoot from 18 feet quite comfortably, with good form, and a decent percentage. But when I start shooting from behind the 3-point line, my form goes wonky, rotation on the ball disappears, and I miss more often than I make. I'm happy with KG's shooting, and don't really want him turning into a Rasheed Wallace.

Re: KG and deep 2s
Pierce has made fun of him about it as well. KG used to shoot 3's but he only cracked 33% once so knocking down 50% of the ones inside the line is better than 29% of the ones outside the line.

Re: KG and deep 2s
This reminds of the Wolves in the early 2000's. Everyone on the team was great shooter to just inside the 3 pt line. KG, Terrell Brandon, Malik Sealy, even Wally Sczerbiak hadn't extended himself out to 3 point range at that point of his career.
The funniest part was Terrell Brandon, when the 3pt line got farther out, his range extended so it was still just inside the 3 pt line.

Two feet is actually a big difference. I wouldn't want KG shooting them unless he was shooting higher then 36%.

Re: KG and deep 2s
I still wonder why he never really got a post game. And what I mean by this is REAL post moves like Big Al type moves. He really has never developed that type of game and with his athelticism I would think he would have.
