Pierce Wants Celtics to Make a Move

Paul Pierce is on record as saying he’d favor the Celts making a move before next Thursday’s trade deadline, but that means someone would have to leave the 15-man roster. That makes this time of year difficult for players as rumor swirl.
"You hear stuff, but you try not to put too much into it,” Eddie House said. “It’s just rumors. You hear things floating around, but you can’t control any of that. You’ve just got to continue to stay focused on the task at hand and what you’ve got to do to help.
“It’s a business. It’s always a business. At the end of the day you know that things are going to happen, and it’s out of your control. I know I control my time out on the court, how I play and how I practice. The rest is up to other people. But we as players just want to win, so we can accept anything if it’s going to help us do that.”
I like it...The captain knows we need a veteran or two to repeat.
We actually need 4 bench role players. House is a keeper, I also like Powe, Big Baby.
I still think we will get Marbury.
So the last move is for defensive sf or C with midrange game.
In my eyes Tony is the first guy who should be gone, because of salary purpose also Scal.
I think Joe Smith is a long shot because he is expiring contract.
Lets see...6 days to go.

Kind of interesting comments from House if only because he is one of maybe two guys Boston can't deal without his permission. Probably worried about, and rightly so, his role being reduced with Sam I am like move again.

Both Baby and Powe can go. If I had to choose to keep one I'd pick Powe. Baby looks like he thinks he's better then he actually is.

I think Baby is being underutilised. He is better than his role.
Powe loves the Celts and is a good long term fit for us. He'll take a home team discount.

If the captain says that then we have to. He's is The Truth after all.

Well I'm not sure what you are going to get in return in a trade involving baby. His trade value isn't exactly sky high. That said, if Joe Smith became available I would waive baby to grab him.

Why do you post this like it's new news?
We've had newspaper/radio quotes for months from
Wyc Grousbeck, Celtic Owner, saying the team needs a Big and a Guard;
Doc Rivers, saying the Team needs a Big and a Guard;
Paul Pierce and Sam Cassell saying to "set Steph free";
Dikembe Mutombo saying he was willing to sign with the Celtics,
but felt that he was 4th in line behind Joe Smith, Alonzo Mourning and PJ Brown,
and didn't want to wait any longer;
that it's been pretty clear for months that the Team would like to
add a Big and a PG that can score (Marbury).
What's intriguing about Steph Marbury is that
despite a 12 season average (823 Games) of 19.7 ppg and 7.8 Assists per Game ,
Marbury can also play the off guard spot and excel
simply as a shooter who can also take it to the rim.

1. Marbury is crazy.
2. Does Joe Smith have much post-season experience?

House has the right take on this. I concur. Because it's all rumors and talk until something actually happens. If you're Pierce, what else are you going to say if the question is asked of you. He sees other teams pulling off deals and other contending teams in a position to make moves and Boston doesn't really fit in either case. If I was that player and I understand that my general manger's hands are tied as far as really making a major trade. Then I would be quiet on the matter. I mean to say you want to see a trade for your team and actually being in a position to do so are two different things. Ainge is stuck in a sense. His hands aren't tied in the sense that he can't pick up the telephone, but it is if you consider the lower value and general perception of Boston's reserve players around the league. Hence, why Ainge is downplaying any trade talks around here. He doesn't want to get other's hopes up if indeed nothing happens for Boston by next Thursday. Makes sense to me. Because he's well aware that this team needs tweaking. How to go about doing that is his challenge.

If we have that as our bench going into the playoffs I'll blow my brains out.

I don't see Boston adding a guard via trade. If they add a guard, it will be Marbury. I think some team will accept an offer of Cassell, Giddens and either Powe or Baby to clear some payroll and add a young player or two.. I see Boston adding a 6'6-6'9 shooter or a big man via trade.
