Suppose one gets tired of the slow and uncertain load times?

I often avoid RealGM because I just don't want to deal with how slow and uncertain the loading is.

Are there other Celtics forums with good content, but perhaps not quite so glitzy about monetizing it?

hmm. I don't have any problems with the load times. I'd use firefox and install some addons to block scripts or ads.

These pages are definitely slow. There is a ton of extra stuff at the top that has to load every time you switch pages. Hey, they need to get paid somehow, so no big deal.

I have Firefox 3, with AdBlock Plus enabled. I felt the same way when I used Firefox 2.

I have Firefox 3 with popup blocker. It isn't SLOW for me, but relatively speaking the site has a lot of extra stuff going on that if they cut out the pages would load really fast.

It loads pretty good for me.

It's a free board, they do need to drive a bit of revenue to pay for it (and so that we don't have to pay a fee).

I'm on my cell goin on here most of the time and rarely have problems, the only gripe I have is that box that changes at the top.

I doubt it. I don't go to a ton of forums but most of them I go to have the same loading issues and functionality that at times make me wish it was 2004. They are also tend to be really bi polar game to game and havens for a bunch of people who still think they can run the team better than Ainge and Co and every loss is evidence that they were right'. For the most part I think this forum sort of treats that for what it is.

Besides I have never seen CFan's trade ideas anywhere else on the internet.

The box that changes at the top is a big gripe for me. It causes problems if I try to browse on my Pocket PC and even on a PC I find it annoying and always try and make sure to hit the pause button after the content loads (an obsessive compulsive esque thing).

Anyways, I don't think there's anything wrong with the loading time for this forum, the site itself is just CPU intensive, so the quality of your experience depends on your computer and its chip and its ram.

For a browser, I recommend Mozilla Cometbird which I have been using as a primary browser for a little while lately. Its identical to Firefox, but it just seems to work better.

ETA - I just took Rocky's advice and just found an add-on to block java/flash scripts. Much faster now, though the wiretap contents don't load. I forget the name of the add-on but all it does is add two icons to the status bar to control whether certain types of script are enabled or disabled.

Agreed it's not awful but it IS slow...

this is still the best C's board around, though!

Browsing RealGM on my Blackberry Storm absolutely sucks...haha. But on a regular computer, it's manageable.

Thanks, guys.

In no way is the problem here the modernity or power of my equipment.

But it could be my patience. ;)

That, and my habit of having a LOT of browser windows and tabs open.
