Brad Miller makes $11,375,000 this season. The Celtics would have to come up with players totaling about $9,000,000. Just about impossible unless you include Perkins. I would take Perkins over Miller so this makes little sense. IMO.

Miller could come off of the bench for the rest of this season and during the playoffs to give Perkins and Garnett a break. What I like about his contract is that it expires before the big free agent season in 2010 which is one reason why a few teams have expressed interest in Miller, including the Cav's and Knicks.
But the C's will be unable to make a deal for Miller because of the salary cap.

Is there a defensive minded center/power forward available whom the Celtic's have a reasonable chance to trade for or maybe sign as a free agent?

No...I have no idea who could we get and I looked all over the league a million times in last months.

Does the article make a case for how Ainge could even possibly match up with Miller's $11.3M? Boston has too many low contracts. If Ainge desired to free a roster spot by trading Cassell. He'll really have a lot of roster openings after trading for Miller.

I have experienced this same problem during the past month. There hasn't been even a rumor during the past week concerning the Celtic's possible interest in a free agent center/power foward, either one who may be obtained via a trade or free agency. That's probably why all of the recent rumors primarily concern Ainge's interest in obtaining a guard who can play both offense and defense, e.g., Raja Bell.
