Nocioni rumor?

Post#1 » by RickyDizzle » Thu Feb 19, 2009 5:21 pm

Dave - Boston: Celtics get anything done?

Chad Ford: (12:09 PM ET ) We keep hearing all morning that the Celtics were talking to the Kings about a deal for Nocioni. The Kings can move him again as long as they don't package him with other players on their roster. The Celtics would send back Scalabrine, Tony Allen, Glen Davis and Patrick O'Bryant. However, a Celtics source says there's nothing happening there. A Kings source, however, says it would be a possibility. I wonder why the Celtics WOULDN'T do that. Nocioni would be a great piece for them.

Crazy! I still think scal stinks, so that doesnt hurt us IMO, Allen is out for the year, O'Bryant stinks, so that doesnt hurt us. Losing Baby stings...but if we could give his minutes to Joe Smith post-buyout I would be all over this trade.

Nocioni would be a great addition, but we'd have to gamble on getting Marbury and Joe Smith. Scal, TA, Glen Davis, O'Bryant for Nocioni, Marbury, Smith is an upgrade - but we can't give up 3 bigs & a back-up 2 just to get a small forward.

Don't like giving up Davis and POB I guess because I don't know were we find a 5 that can actually play. But Nocioni is like the anti Gooden, his numbers aren't great but your team plays better with him on the floor. But what a crappy contract that is not happening.

Agree with Sully - not so much about the center thing as it looks like Joe Smith is about to be rescued from the dead - but Nocioni plays 3/4 and unless Boston is letting both Powe and Davis walk in favor of Nocioni, he'd be road-blocking Bill Walker for the entire length of his contract.

Now, its possible that Boston values Nocioni as the backup 4 and 3 for 7-8 million, but it seems an aweful lot to spend when they'd be paying far less for the combination of incumbants Powe/Davis and Walker. If either one of the back up 4's stays or Walker remains, Nocioni's minutes would be restricted to a single position, which would make him the most expensive 15 minute player in the league.

This sounds like a deal that Sacramento is more interested in than Boston, though Nocioni certainly helps maximize the next 2-3 season as he is at his peak and not still learning the ropes...if Boston is in position for Smith and Marbury, it makes great sense for this year, but quite expensive after that unless they are satisfied with Nocioni for the next 4 years and believe Walker can play the 2 and Powe/Davis can take a hike.

Joe Smith/Nocioni/backup PG for the next 3 years? 12-14 million for that bench trio expiring at KG's last year? Interesting, but seems extreme...

Don't like giving up POB? Are you serious?

They could cut POB today and I wouldn't think twice about it.

For the purposes of NOW you're only giving up Scal and Baby. Tony Allen's out for a long time and O'Bryant is a noncontributor currently. Still you'd need another big man.

The trade also goes through with Scal, Tony Allen, O'Bryant, and Giddens, though I don't know why Sacto would do that.

Also the Kings already have a full roster plus. How would they pare it down to bring in so many players?

I'd love to dump Baby for someone who is much better, like Nocioni...
It's still 17 to 11!!!!

To get rid of one of the worst contracts in the NBA I imagine they would waive a guy or two. But c'mon we are not taking on that contract.
