trying not to hate on Cleveland

As I explained before, I am a huge Danny Ainge fan. 792244 represents all his jersey numbers in his playing days... and I'm thinking back to when he was in Portland in '92 and Phoenix in '93, and each time his teams went up against Jordan and the Bulls. While I rooted for Portland and Phoenix, I COULDN'T hate the Bulls because of MJ. I DID HATE the Lakers in the 80's, and the Pistons, which made the NBA Finals in '88 and '89 unbearable to watch. Jordan had hardly any annoying tendencies which made watching him as an opposing NBA fan still fun to watch. I am trying to train myself not to hate on LeBron because he will eventually win some titles with Cleveland (he ain't going anywhere NY) during his career. I prefer to sit back and enjoy watching his talent (this point of time I speak of, of course, when we no longer are legitimate contenders). I just wish he would STOP acting like he got shot in the head anytime somebody's hand comes close to hitting him in there. It usually happens 1 to 2 times a game.
There have been times when replays clearly show NO CONTACT, and he keeps checking the area in which he 'got' hit. CAN'T stand it. Stop it. 9-10 times you got the call, no need to put on a show. You are BETTER than that! Leave that crap to the Varejao's of the world. (hopefully they will have traded his @#$ by this point.)
Why bring this up? Simply because they will eventually overtake us (like Detroit did) and since LA has no legitamate contenders over there, (Portland needs to grow up fast), I would rather see Bron-Bron hold the trophy up than slicky-da-diva Kobe in Fa-la-la-land. We have a realistic shot to win it all this year and next and it's LeBron time.
By the way, if you're a sicky like me, and your brand of humor is driving 35 in a 25 at 5am, and getting pulled over by a cop with "holding out for a hero" from the movie Footloose blaring out of your car radio is your idea of funny... one word for ya... Varejao. That guy is a clown. Total mess. Look at me, I'm tall with a goofy hairdoo. Just an odd looking fellow. Watch me flippity-flop me way down the court and fall and go boom when somebody looks at me. Zippity-do-da.

I agree, the most angering thing about LeBron (besides him getting ALL the **** calls and him managing to rip off KG's chalkdust/rosin thing at the beginning of games and manage to make commercials with it) is the fact that he is so whiny and wimpy when it comes to fouls. He flops and acts and winces ALL THE TIME...he's entirely too good and talented to do that. Also, I watched the beginning of the game last night against Detroit and he spends about 2 min after the introductions posing and preening in front of the crowd at the scorers table before going onto the floor...**** LAME! But he is an amazing talent...he doesn't need the ref's help...
Varejao needs to be beaten, maybe karate-chopped in the throat...I can't **** stand that ****....

Ha, I know what you mean. Lebron is going to be a top 2 player for the next 6-8 years. But since day 1 nike, his teammates, and the cav fanbase have felt entitled. Entitled when Lebron hasn't won ish. This doesn't mean Lebron isn't a dangerous man. I have felt I've been pretty dead on in predicting when teams have obvious advantages over others. The only times I've been completely surprised was when Miami came back to beat the mavs in the finals a few years back and when Lebron took the c's to game 7 with his crap shoot team. Since that, I can't gage the guy's ceiling. I can't be mad at bron to try and bait calls either, it's a part of the game. The only people I get mad at, are the celtics haterz, aka espn/general media. Though Bill Walton has the c's back the most of the time.

Did any of you see the halftime report on Sunday comparing Lebron v. Kobe to Bird v. Johnson? Was I the only one slightly put off by this comparison during a Celtic game? Lebron has yet to win a title, he is not playing in the game, and there is Paul Pierce - the MVP of last year's finals - not even being mentioned. Now, there's no denying that Lebron is an awesome player, but the report seemed rather tactless, not to mention premature. A feature comparing Paul Pierce to Kobe Bryant would have been more appropriate. Pierce Outplayed Bryant last year and will do it again this year, provided the Celtics reach the finals.

I disagree about not being able to hate on Jordan - when the league rigs things so a team becomes unbeatable so it can foster an impression of one player as some kind of god...I hate on that.
But they haven't done that for LeBron yet or Cleveland yet, in fact the league and the media seem to be working as hard as can they can to subvert Cleveland and try to get him to New York - and promote Kobe over LeBron as the league's best players.
Gotta respect Cleveland too since they never had anything handed to them, other than managing to win the lottery when they were the worst team and deserved it.
Contrast that to the Lakers who were handed almost everything they ever got - Handed Wilt in a lopsided trade. Handed Kareem in a lopsided trade. Handed James Worthy in a lopsided traded. Ditto Gasol; same thing with Shaq as a FA and being able to trade for Kobe as an aftereffect. You could even argue getting Magic as compensation for Gail Goodrich's FA exit, although that was more the ridiculous system the league had in place at the time.
Contrast that to the Celtics, the only things we were even close to handed were DJ and Len Bias.

Is there a REAL GM hall of fame thread?

For me I'm not sure who I like better between Kobe and Lebron. Honestly I have no reason to hate or dislike Kobe (only because he played against us in the Finals), but for me something about Lebron rubs me the wrong way. All he cares about is attention (for example you pointed out him posing for the crowd and such). Stuff like that just bothers me kind of. Just play the game.
Also, announcing that he is going to be in the dunk contest during the dunk contest...it took away attention from the contest happening. All the attention went to Lebron as soon as he opened his mouth, and I'm pretty sure he knew that would happen.
If the Lakers and Cavs ever meet in the Finals together, I hope both lose somehow. :p On one side I think Lebron is a complete showboat, and I don't want him to win. On the other side I'm going to hate hearing how Kobe is equal or better than Jordan now that he has proven he can win without Shaq, and well it's the Lakers...

As a Cavs fan I watch every game, so I'm going to be bias. There have been plenty of times this season where he's been blatently smacked in the face and there was a no call. It seems to really goes back to the 'crab-dribble' incident. After he came out and said that the refs were wrong he's had a lot less calls go his way.
Not sure why there's so much Varejao hate. I'd much rather have him on my bench then Powe or Davis. People flop in the NBA, get over it, they do it all the time.
Back to the Lebron issue...you mentioned that he's better then that and shouldn't act a certain way when he gets fouled. Well Garnett is WAY too good of a player to act like a punk. He seems to have a knack for trying to imtimidate the lesser/smaller players in the league, then when a guy like McDyess gets in his face he backpeddles like a pu$$y. Or how about Pierce getting 'hurt' and wheelchaired out only to come skipping out to the court a few minutes later.
See below for Garnett footage...

You know, Lebron can grab his head and rub his eyes after every call. It just means an endless supply of the source material for humor. Really, does he not know that the crowd can see the replays and cringe at the acting?
In regards to Jordan and Kobe, I can't find much faults that would cause people to hate them. They're both fiercely competitive and don't have any glaring antics. The biggest thing is complaining to refs. Jordan did that a lot and Kobe complains on just about every non-call against the opponent or calls against him. Actually, he behaves pretty well with calls that go against him, but puts up huge fits for non-calls on his drive-ins. But just about every superstar complains or gets shocked at the refs decisions.
Other than, on the court, both Jordan and Kobe have nothing against them.

Good point. I'll never forget the play in the playoffs last year where LeBron got bumped in one eye and went wild yelling and rubbing THE OTHER ONE...they even showed the replay TWICE and both times it was super obvious he was rubbing the WRONG EYE...pathetic...
