Marbury = Manny Ramirez

Let me first say that I'm cool with the Celtics going after Marbury. However I'm getting the feeling like the Cs are about to sign the NBA version of Manny Ramirez. Like Manny, Marbury walks by the beat of his own dummer, he's a little odd. So expect maybe one or two Starbury being Starbury moments.
I also expect Marbury to come here motivated like Manny was when he was traded to the Dodgers. Love him or hate him but Manny was a great player when he was motivated. I hope the same is true of Marbury. I just feel weird because I was upset with Manny by the way he acted to get out of town. If you look at the action of Marbury during last season and also during this past off-season, his action was the same as Manny. Marbury didn't want to play when the coach asked him. Manny fake a leg injury and took at bats offs when the team needed him. There's a lot of Manny in Marbury. Usually guys who act like that aren't rewarded with championships no matter how great they play with their new team.

he absolutely isnt. Ramirez is one of the top 3 hitters in the MLB. I don't think Marbury is in the top 3 of anything in the NBA. Hell, if he plays 40 minutes a game, he probably wouldnt even be top 10 in anything.

You clearly have never seen Eddie House bring the ball up against pressure.

I know that, I guess my whole point was guys like Marbury and Manny who cry their way out of town usually don't get rewarded with championships. I mean you can also include T.O. in that same group. T.O. did some stupid stuff to get out of Philly and he hasn't won anything in Dallas.

I'm comparing the two players personality types not the two players production on the court and field respectively. Even though I feel Marbury as also been under-rated as and all around PG.

Worked out for Sam last year. And Rasheed was an a-hole in Portland before getting sent to Detroit.

Rasheed never asking or tried to get himself traded out of Portland the was getting sick of all this Ts but he never quit on that teams. Sam Cassell I wouldn't even put in the same boat as a Manny or Marbury.

Adding a talented player makes the team worse? Someone is sour.

You guys will be chanting for more Eddie House once you start watching Marbury play on a regular basis.

Starbury's not batting cleanup.
He will have neither the impact in the clubhouse nor the responsibility on the field of play that Manny had with the Sox.
I wouldn't want to sign him long-term but I suspect in the short-term he'll be thrilled to wear the green and white and when Doc says "jump" he'll say "how high?"

Lol, a lot of negative comments from other team's fans. I see a big jealousy here and it sounds even sweeter to me.
Malbury this, Malbury that...yap..yap..yap...
We are adding a bench help for **** sake. We are not signing him to a long term deal. If he sucks then he sits and nothing is lost. We improved talent wise. Now that we have a shooting guard we will give the Lakers and Cleveland something to think about of who to guard when Malbury, Pierce, KG and Ray are on the court at the same time.

Manny with the Dodgers? Marbury should never be the #1 or #2 guy on his team. He's a good #3 guy. HE's in a better situation and playing for a contract. He can't act like an idiot...

Manny won 2 titles with Boston, lol

T.O hasn't won jack, but being a dick as teammate and being selfish. His selfish ways in Philly screwed him over he had nice 7 yr. 49 mill, then 2 1/2 seasons later bitching about it, taking 2 mill less at the end and shorter deal while ruining your reputation is just stupid.
Marbury will be a good fit, he just needs to know Rondo is the starter. If he understands his role, and limit his turnover he should be option off the bench or if Rondo gets injured.

Mr. CTC had a lot more issues than techs in Portland. He left them no choice but to trade him and they got squat for an incredibly talented big in his prime.

Manny was likely the BEST hitter of his era - when you consider that in all likelyhood he was one of the few clean ones. The other "greats" are cheats - namely A-Rod and Bonds.. But guys like Giambi and Palmerio were cheats as well.
That's the real horror of steroids. It elevates good talent into greats and puts incredible pressure on everyone else to cheat..
Anyway I live in NYC and saw Marbury play quite a few times. He is a great deal more talented then some fans seem to realize. But he is not Mannyesque. Manny is flat out the best hitter I have ever seen in person..
