If SM is a problem....the solution is easy.....he is gone.
If SM has learned life's lesson and loves it here as a C, gives it all he has and doesn't want to leave and works out something for next season or two, plays his heart out and lets say plays better then Rondo. In a fairness should he not start, if it's better for the team if it came to that? Doc and Danny know this....it's a nice problem but still a possible one.

Just asking........ 8-)

ps....no job in the NBA is for granted..... 8-)

I'll make any bet you can come up with that Steph will never start over Rondo

The best ( maybe Marbury is in his opinion) 5 players dont always start for the Celtics.

Great Sixth Celtic men:
John Havlicek
Kevin Mchale
Paul Silas
Frank Ramsey
Don Nelson

All could have been starters on the C's or other teams but played the 6th man role to make the team better.

Just Play SM some red Auberbach quotes on why he came up with the 6th man concept, if Marbury doesnt see the light then, he wont be playing much, here or anywhere.

He won't play better than Rondo. He might be a better volume scorer, but Rondo is the best defensive point in the NBA. Rondo is a much more efficient scorer than Stephen. Asking if Marbury should start over Rondo is like asking if Tony should start over Ray.

I don't think he'll start over Rondo, but he might end up finishing a few tight games though, once he gets in shape and learns the system.

As Marbury goes, I think he'll be on his best behavior and this will work out great. Remains to be seen just how good he can become with the team over the next couple of months. So much attention has been paid to what a class-A distraction he has been that people forget just how much talent this guy brings to the table. I have a feeling that the off the court distractions won't be an issue here.

Anyway, I won't be surprised if Marbury finishes some tight/important games. He's got that much talent.

I'm as big a Rondo fan as the next guy... love the kid. But the fact that he has no jump shot is a huge hole in his game. That's just fact.

i've never liked marbury's game, and i don't think doc and ainge really do either. shoot-first ball-dominating PGs never win championships in this league. otoh he is PERFECT for the bench, because there is nobody else to score. as long as he's a bench player it's great for us.

if marbury really does well here i expect him to go elsewhere and be a starter. he will definitely draw interest, but rondo is a better starter for our team.

marbury has not been a shoot first point guard for years now...Ever since the larry brown era.. And your right that Marbury will never start over rondo but marbury is a much better player..please.

He's sort of right...He's been a scorer, but not in the ball dominant sense. The last time I saw him play an NBA game (a Raptors/Knicks game), most of his shots were either post-ups on smaller guard(TJ Ford), or spot up 3s. IIRC, he didn't take many of the shots his style of player is generally maligned for IE pull up 18 foot fade-aways with a hand in the face. He dropped like 30 points in the game, but it was more a Kobe style flow 30 points rather than a Iverson style ball dominating 30 points. Steph's main emphasis as I recall was dumping the ball into Eddy Curry...this was back when Isiah was the coach lol.

Lemme go see if i can track down the boxscore from that night.

EDIT:
Well it was either this one

or

I think the latter
