Well it seems like Scal is done for the year. Head injuries are tough and sometimes you need to realize that quality of life is more valuable then basketball. At least Scal was in good spirits cracking jokes when asked about his injury talking to the Boston Globe.

"You can't do anything," Scalabrine said of the last week's inactivity. "I can't watch TV for more than 30 minutes. I can't read a book. I can talk to my wife, but she gets tired of that. But I will say this: When I start trying to read a book, everything moves. I have problems with motion during the day."

He's terrific as a cheerleader and locker room presence. I sure hope to see him behind the bench soon. It's too bad because for the first time since putting on a C's uniform he was actually playing well and helping us win games.

Poor Scal, he was finally getting to really contribute to this team. I second the good luck Scal movement.

It is dreadful irony that when he is finally playing well and filling an important role on the team, this happens. Hope this doesn't linger and he makes it back on the court.

Get well soon Scal. You had a great year. Now rest the weary head.

I gave scal crap all the time, but I just wanted him cut/traded, I never wished something like this on him. Hopefully he gets back to normal soon.

it is ironic that just when he finally started to contribute this happens. I think he'll be better in a few weeks but the question is do you risk putting on the floor again? If he can't play anymore because of this the celts will need to get a medical exception for him so they can use his salary next year. IT sure sound like this is a potential career ending injury

That sounds very serious, not being able to read and all that. I hope they continue to take this very seriously and Scal doesn't rush back.

The NFL is just now beginning to deal with the phenomena of so many players in their 40s, 50's, 60's who are having incredible difficulties with depression, chronic headaches, motor coordination problems and the like because they took too many hits and didn't get proper treatment and recovery from concussions. The brain is a very complex organ, obviously, and sometimes damage can occur that isn't detected on tests. Guys can get as big and jacked up as they want, but it's still a big lump of soft tissue that is inside our heads, and unlike career-ending knee injuries, brain trauma can be not only career-ending but life threatening.

Honestly, I think he's done. 3 head injuries in 1 year pretty much means his head has turned into mush and that his professional playing days are over.

I hope he hangs up the sneakers and puts on a suit. Danny, Doc and many others seem to think he'll be a terrific coach one day. Maybe for Scal that day has come earlier then expected.

I mean look at Patrice Bergeron. Another concussion and he's probably done too. It happened to Eric Lindros and his brother as well. It's an unfortunate injury, but you cannot mess around with the brain.

Damn i was hoping Scal would be back soon. He could have done some good things for us down the stretch.

Good luck Scal. Seems like he won't be playing this year. I hope he gets well. Scalabrine was playing well for us.

Other than Pierce, we have no SF on this team. I'm not counting Walker, because Doc has made it clear that he isn't going to play Walker this year, unless it's garbage time. Can we still get Bonzi Wells?

I think Scal will be a pro ball player again but time is against him being ready for the postseason and it is probably worth while for him to wait till camp next season to play ball.

Poor fella...has been having his best year as C. Gunna miss him this year. Outa curiosity can some one work out our win loss ratio with Scal in the starting line-up Vs. KG in the starting lineup? I feel Scal may be the higher........

I started a thread before the season started that Scal would contribute by speading the floor, playing decent D, and limiting turnovers and got ROASTED for it...need less to say im quite sad to see that Scal is out for the year....

With that said, does this mean we can get a Free Agent???

No, having two injured guys isn't nearly enough to get an extra roster slot.
