Can these threads end? Be happy we got Moore and Starbury. I could give a **** less about what other teams added, because I know the Celtics are still the best team in the L come playoff time, and made the best overall additions. No other team, barring the Spurs, has 3 veteran closers down the stretch.

Ehh...we'll quit complaining when Moore shows he deserves to be in the rotation, let alone shows a fraction of Smith's game. It could happen - I think Ainge chose him for some reason and wanted him - I don't think he heard any of these phantom "Cleveland is Smiths' top choice" rumors - he liked Mikki for some reason.

Eddie House, PJ Brown, J. R. Giddens, James Posey and Scot Pollard.

This I would like to find out about. Not that CLE or anyone else if giving Joe Smith the full MLE but that should mean Boston can do the same for Marbury and give him a salary around 3 mil without using the MLE. I don't think it is true but it should be interesting to find out about.

From what I have seen from Moore, his skill set is more what Boston was looking for than any of the other options. Lawrence Frank said that his 15 ft jumper is a lay up, he knows how to set a pick, which is a huge issue with our younger bigs and even KG they all think they are Dave Cowens and picks have to result in a bruise. He isn't a defender but either are the other two, but he is long and he changes shots and will understand the rotations. He also fills the lane on the break and can finish.

Obviously Smith and Gooden are more productive players but they don't do those things, we might have been able to get Smith to do some of them but Gooden has been unable to mold his game since he came in the league which is why a guy with his production can't keep a job and everyone will be wondering why Matt Bonner is still playing over him.

Those are all good points. All the rumors said Boston was the first choice (I counted 1 article from Cleveland only saying Smith would be open to returning, about 20 other rumors from national sites saying he wanted to play with KG), but it's certainly possible that Ainge thought the money would lead him to Cleveland.

That re-signing guys without the MLE is true because of the 120 pct thing - I always hoped we could re-sign Posey like that and make a big splash with another vet for MLE. Too bad money concerns kept us from doing either. I always felt that *this* was going to be the big year - after the trade in 2007 all we had was the MLE, but last year we had the opportunity to fill out the depth we lost - with a first round pick, MLE, and re-signing whoever we got for MLE the year before. Wound up only being re-signing House, overall a big disappointment - good thing we already won ahead of schedule last year. Next year we have a chance again with the MLE, we'll see how it goes.

Well the part we need to find out about is whether the 120% raise is a based off of what his salary would be for the full season or the prorated amount he actually gets. My guess is the latter.
