Rondo could be sidelined up to ten days

Rondo was out of the lineup Sunday against the Magic, and his absence was obvious from the start. Reserve guard Stephon Marbury started in place of Rondo and recorded zero assists while scoring just four points. In total, the Celtics made 10 assists on 30 field goals, a significant decrease from their 22.9 per-game average.

Did he twist his ankle, or break his ankle?? Nobody takes 10 games(what's that like 4 weeks?) to heal an ankle, which seemed fine because he even came back to the game...I don't get it...

10 days, not 10 games.

no problem

let him take off longer than necessary. I can see us doing so-so the next 5-10 games.

In all likelihood, once the starting 5 is healthy again, we will close the season headed into the playoffs with a 10 or 15 game winning streak

We may not win a lot, but it'll put Marbury on the fast track, which will be good for the playoffs.

Lucky it's not 6 weeks.

At least Steph will have to learn to play 5 on 5 again.

Beats playing 1 on 1 against Gabe Pruitt.

that game against miami on the 18th seems like a big day to the celtics. I have feeling both Rondo and KG will be back then.
and the 20th till 27th will be as important a stretch as I thought.

Im glad it's not 6 weeks...but not lucky...that injury shouldn't have him out for more than 3 games. I doubt he wouldn't play yesterday if it was the playoffs...IMO they are only doing this to start Marbury and get him in game shape..must be....

Ankle sprains are tough. Josh Smith missed 12 games with a high ankle sprain and I think he may have come back too soon. Not sure the severity of Rondo's sprain, just saying 10 games (even though this says 10 days) isn't crazy for some sprains.

Sprains don't heal fully unless you totally stay off of them for ... well, for longer than any athlete ever does in-season.

The Cs may have to win some playoff games on the road ... but note that the Cavs, Magic, and Lakers are all playing right now with one missing starter themselves.

If you begin with Saturday, that puts Rondo's return date at the 17th. If he's kept out all of tens days.

Boston's on the road at Chicago on the 17th, and then at home against Miami on the 18th. So, he'll miss the next three to four games depending on if Rivers waits until the team returns home on the 18th.

I hope we do better with Rondo out than we did two years ago when Paul was out. Marbury would be a helluva backup had he been with the team all year. But right now...

None of it matters, I suppose, as long as everyone is healthy come playoff time. No sense risking everything for one game to be played in Cleveland or Orlando instead of at home.
