Sheed??

Been reading a few posts of late and seeing stacks about people thinking Rasheed Wallace will be here next year? Why? Has he said sumfin?
I know he is mates with KG.....but would he come for what we can afford? Is he the best available? Would he accept a role behind Perk and KG? Would he even be our sixth man? Would it be better to spend money on Steph? Could we have Steph and Sheed?
So many questions I know....but have heard since the Big 2 arrived to join the Big 1 that this free agent or soon to be free agent wants to come to Boston......and how many have? Cassell, PJ, Moore and Steph. So I wanna be excited for this season...but the idea of adding Sheed is also exciting for next.....are people just guessing? Gettin my hopes up? Posting for the sake of posting? Or is their weight to it all??
(oh and is their anyways of spell checkin posts? ....my spelling is awful)
ciao

Add Posey and House to your list of free agents that came here.

Reasons for thinking he might come here? He's likely to be affordable, i.e. fitting in under the MLE, and he fits a need, i.e. a backup Big with length. Add in what seems to be some respect between KG and Rasheed, and it seems to be a good fit.
I think there has been sincere interest by Free Agents, it's matter of fit for affordability and need, but all indications were the Celtics were dancing with a couple of FA's over the off season where it didn't come together in the end.
As regards to spending the money on Steph instead, Pruitt is coming along as a backup, and we have no backup Center in development. Rondo would appear to be less of an injury risk than Perk. So for value, I think backup Center in the offseason will continue to be the priority.

Unless Marbury really gets good in the last couple months of the season, and backs up ROndo well enough for us to repeat, I don't think he will come back next year. If none of that happens, we should sign Sheed at all costs for our bench. Rondo, Ray, PP, KG, Perk, with Pruitt, House, TA, Sheed and Powe second unit...wow that's a bad ass team...=D

I like him alot...I still think the only reason he's struggling is because he is still rusty as hell...but damn wouldn't it be sweet if he could come back and play like this

Yeah I reckon he is rusty....and i also kinda wonder is he trying so hard to compliment the team rather than be the focus, that he hasnt found his groove yet....it will come

It would be an ideal fit, but I think we're overestimating the lure of playing for the Celtics. Sure, we're a good team, but that didn't work out in our favor when we were pursuing McDyess and Joe Smith. If a team like the Spurs were to offer Sheed the MLE, I think he would choose them over us, just on the basis that he'd have a starting position.

There is not going to be a lot of spending going on this summer. So guys who you would think would get big money are going to get the MLE. If they are looking at the MLE - what team would you rather take the MLE from Boston, or...?
I am one of those that think we have a really good shot at Wallace.
Where do people think AI will end up?

If we could get Sheed, we'd have the best front court in the league. Powe/Davis, Sheed, Perk, Big Ticket...nice

Sheed to Boston just makes a lot of sense. He will probably want out of Detroit as they are a sinking ship. He knows he probably has a few good years left which is exactly the Celtics window. The Celtics can give him a lot of playing time because they will want to rest KG more. I would argue that we tend to underestimate the lure of playing with the Celtics. This is a dream scenario. I know Kobe and LBJ are very very good but our roster is a clear notch ahead. Least year proved this and I think come playoffs the league will be reminded again. I think getting Sheed and Marbs IS a possibility. Marbs may not get a full MLE offer anywhere else and settle for the LLE or both players may agree to split the MLE for the chance to be part of a more talented team. I wouldn't say it is likely to get both but it is certainly possible maybe in the 10-25% range imo.
As for spelling, get firefox. It has a built in spell check that works just like Word. If you misspell something it puts red squiglies under it. I have terrible spelling too and it saves me from looking like a (total) idiot.

Cheersmate on the firefox tip....I've actually got it but dont use it...dunno why.
I agree we underestimate the lure of the C's.....but as a long suffering fan....I think I have developed a complex with regards to 'good things' when it comes to the Celtics....I just still find it un-natural to believe anything good can/will/has happened to the Boston Celtics.....I think perhaps this is a psychological condition that will only be fixed with more Championships...winning and good luck just still dont fit with the Bostons Teams I recall fomr the 90 and earlie 00's.
Josh Smith??? Is he available next year?

If Sheed came here, we would definitely lead the league in Technical fouls...
Seriously, I think Sheed would be a great addition in the offseason at MLE. Marbs would also want close to full MLE money, so the chance to get both would be slim. I'd rather have Sheed.
Josh Smith signed an extension last summer, and is not plausable. He counts $10.8 Mil against the Hawks cap next year.

I agree. I think this is because in the past we often got our hopes up on long shots that seemed plausible. Thinking Vin Baker could give us a solid 20 and 10, Waiting for trades waiting for rookies to become stars. Now things are different. Its like playing poker with a huge stack of chips as opposed to playing with enough to make the blinds. Now we get the good players. After all the talk of Cassell last year and then we got him, this year Marbs (I know we didn't get Smith but he already had played for the other top team last year, what can you expect.)
If we want Sheed, chances are good we get him.
