The NBA decided to split the baby today after looking into Tuesday night’s encounter between Doc Rivers and referee Bill Kennedy. Rivers was ejected with his second technical foul and later, at length claimed that he had been baited and goaded by Kennedy. The NBA indication yesterday that it agreed with Rivers, and fined Kennedy an undisclosed amount of money. But the league also refused to rescind the technical, and in response to Rivers’ emotional outburst about the ref - a major taboo where coaches are concerned - fined the Celtics coach $25,000. Knowing Stu Jackson the fine against the ref was probably $30.00...however if he had done that against the Knicks, Cavs, or Lakers then he would be summarily executed!

Are you implying that the league looks favorable on those teams but not the Celtics?

Ummm, yeah, actually...there's 50 years of history to back it up, too (well at least the anti-Celtic part)...

Ummm, yeah, actually...there's 50 years of history to back it up, too (well at least the anti-Celtic part)...

In case you haven't watched NBA TV, TNT, ESPN, The Cover of 2k9, and about 1/3 of all the "Where greatness happens" commercials for the last two seasons, everybody loves the Celtics. You could say everyone has brown noses but i prefer to call them GREENTHUMBS

But seriously, i'm a bulls fan and i will admit that the call was a little crazy. I just think it is a bit absurd to say that the league is out to get them.

The league is making money from the celtics, but they will try to screw everytime they can.

What the refs can't get through their **** skulls is that they should never make themselves a part of the post-game conversation. Their only job is to call a good game and stay the f--- out the way. If that means sucking it up when a coach is chewing them out then so be it. Suck it up and stay out of the post-game story.

I'm sorry about the language, but seeing the same issue arise time after time with these refs is beyond frustrating as a fan. I can handle mistakes from good refs they are human, but I can't handle when they try to over step their bounds and become a part of the outcome.

Absolutely, the refs act like they think *they* are part of the show, like *they* are the main attraction and the reason people come to the games....it adds to the WWE-feel of the NBA, unfortunately, but Stern and the NBA higher-ups have shown no sign over the years of controlling this or changing it...
