Marbury is playing like crap. It is looking like a bad signing because he is hurting the team instead of helping right now. I rather have House out of the floor with Tony Allen once TA comes back. A combination of TA and House is better than Marbury and House. TA gives us a better chance to win games than Marbury.

Come playoff time, the rosters get shorter. We will be playing mainly a 8 or 9 man rotation. The guys I went coming off the bench are House, BBD, Powe, and TA. It's seems like the additions of Moore and Marbury aren't going to help us much in the playoffs.

Even when Marbury gets in better shape, I still don't like the small backcourt of House and SM. Is anyone else disappointed in Marbury's play? He isn't giving us much on offense and even less on defense.

He's on a PJ Brown regain-his-skills curve. He's almost there. Give it a little more time.

Mhm..who baks up Rondo?? House? Or Pierce? Come on now..of course Marbury will play...he has been getting better, so has Mikki....He is getting alot of assists for the limited minutes he has been playing..give it some time. He has been trying really hard on D too....

TA has a lot to do with Marbury's minutes, and so does House. Rondo plays about 36 minutes a game. That leaves 12 minutes at the back up PG spot. Ray Allen plays about 32 minutes at SG and the rest at SF, that leaves 16 minutes at the SG spot.

If TA plays gets about 14-16 minutes at the back up SG, then that only leaves about 12 minutes a game at the back up PG spot. Who would you have play about 12-15 minutes a game, House or Marbury. I would go with House because he is a difference maker.

I doubt TA will see many minutes at all---unless someone else gets hurt---he's been out too long--the team has moved on from the TA timeline.

House has had 4 assists in a game once this season. Marbury has done it 5 times in 58 fewer games.

The offense on the second unit dies when House is in there at the point, that's why for the last 2 years the Celtics have looked for a late season addition at PG.

TA isn't likely to get many minutes in the playoffs, I expect just some defensive assignments on occasion. House will be out there for his shot as SG, but Marbury will be the backup point.

Stephon Per 36 stats

6.0 ppg on 32.0% TS
6.0 apg
3.6 turnovers
0.5 steals
2.8 fouls

Every SINGLE ONE OF THOSE things is by and far worse than any other year steph has had, per 36, and he's usually averaged more than 36 minutes anyways. And he hasn't exactly looked slow out there. He's still trying to get his game and rhythm back.

Tony Allen per 36

14.7 ppg on 53.7% TS
2.5 apg
3.1 turnovers
2.4 spg
4.1 fouls

so even though Steph has been absolutely awful - he still fouls less and assists WAY better than tony allen. Expect his turnovers / shooting efficiency to round out, and i'm sure his steals will see a slight increase as well. At that point you'll have to ask yourself: is it worth it to generate about less than a steal more per game, if it means fouling less, and getting a hell of a lot more bench playmaking?

Let's say at worse, stephon gets back to how good he was last year. Per 36 thats

14.9 ppg on 52.7% TS
5.1 apg
2.1 turnovers
0.9 spg
2.5 fouls

Still better than Tony Allen could hope to be. And honestly I think with less minutes, more emphasis on defense, once he rounds into shape his steals will be better than that, and I think his assists will be more like they'e already been than how they were last year. The slight dip in true shooting percentage is well worth the assists, less turnovers, and less fouls.


Now finally it comes to your argument about the small backcourt, and I agree to an extent that the Steph/House backcourt has size issues. But it's a bench, not many teams have regular sized 2 guards, even playoff teams rely on combo guards to fill the 2 or Backup 2 spot - guys like Roger Mason, Courtney Lee, Delonte West, Sasha Vujacic. Do those names scare you as guys that are gunna kill Stephon Marbury off the dribble and score over him?

As long as doc doesn't have him guarding 3-4 tweeners like Hermann he should be fine.

Allen will play less in this year's playoffs than he did last year. Enough said.

wow i dont know what you've been watching but i see good things when Steph is on the court... it was always going to take a while for him to get back into a rythm on the court, but the guy just creates plays for other people, something no one else on the bench can do.. especially Tony Allen

What are you talking about. The guy hasn`t played basketball in a year, is he supposed to be in top form from the start? He has another month before I expect him to show his real game...

PJ looked horrible in the regular season last year but was great in the playoffs. Just be patient...

Here's what will happen. Marbury will no longer play any minutes with Rondo as backup SG. House will play no minutes at backup PG and be a situational SG. Tony Allen will play backup SG and backup SF when Eddie is on the floor. Bill Walker won't get any playing time. Neither Marbury or House are great defenders at the SG position because of their height and short arms, you end up with things like the Brandon Rush vs. Marbury situation without TA out there.. Every team we are likely to face has the focal point of their offense on a wing player, except for Orlando.

I dont think House will be taken out of the line up that easily, he has shown that he can be our instant offence off the the bench.

I'm pleased with how the ball is moving on the second unit, since Steph arrived. His penetrating and dishing has given them a weapon which that unit lacked before. As others have noted, he is only going to get better as he gets more minutes under his belt. Tony Allen's return should have little, if any, effect upon Stephon's playing time.

The premise that Marbury not play once Allen gets back is absurd.

ps.....Starbaby will be Rondo's backup and if TA gets minutes it's at the sf position....he might be out the door in a trade next season....Walker looks might good....Starbaby might be here next year....

I think Marbury has been playing much better of late. With time I think his shot will start to come back as well.

As for Tony Allen, I see no reason for him to touch the court. His IQ is terrible out there and he's nothing more than an average defender.

I disagree with the notion that Tony is only an average defender. We don't need him on the floor and I don't agree with the full-on premise of this thread. But, I wouldn't mind seeing Tony off the bench before Marbury and Doc can then make adjustments based on how Tony is playing. Or, I wouldn't mind seeing Marbury/House/Eddie on the floor at the same time for a little bit in the 1st half and then Doc can make his adjustments from there.
