Victory Cigar 3/29/09 Thunder win
Slow start big finish and we found out that Mikki Moore can actually play basketball. Cigar is going to Baby though for the unconventional triple double. *EDITED TITLE TO CORRECT TEAM* Spin

BBD gets it for going berserker rage style after he was stitched up. Great to see him starting to play well.

Re: Victory Cigar 3/29/09 Thunder win
I have to go with PP. He took the game over when we needed him. House also had a big game and was vital in the turnaround. The whole bench played well. Finally a good game by Mikki Moore, Walker looked OK and Marbury had a great 4th quarter.
The most important thing from this game for me is that it seems Marbury is getting his quickness back. He looked explosive going to the basket and that will be huge in the playoffs. Still ways to go but he is getting his legs back.

I think Eddie did great Job that really changed the game in the third quarter, also Paul has made his contribution too, plus Baby's Superstar performance in the fourth quarter, that is quite interesting because he was injured before Monster comeback.
So in the third quarter, the Cigar goes to Paul and Eddie.
In the fourth quarter, the Cigar goes to Baby and Starbury.
By the Way, Rondo and Mikki played also impressive in the first half.

Re: Victory Cigar 3/29/09 Thunder win
I voted for Glen Davis, which is not the first time, either.
Davis appears to have lost weight since the start of the season,
making him quicker laterally, finally able to dunk with some regularity
(even though his shots are often blocked/deflected around the basket),
and Davis has learned to make the 18 foot jumper, with regularity,
the past 3 weeks or so, that he's been taking for about 45 minutes
before games for about 18 months now.
As an Early Bird Free Agent, he'll be retricted.
Interesting what kind of offer he''ll get.
KG and Leon Powe's absence has given
Glen Davis and Mikki Moore the opportunity
to convince the coaching staff of what they are capable of
in the coming playoffs.
That outside shot, as Tommy Heinsohn has repeatedly said,
is the key to setting up the rest of Davis offensive game.
And if you watch the moves Davis' has been putting on in his
various spin moves to the hoop,
they are right out of one of Bill Walton's instructional videos,
meaning classic moves.
Obviously Davis has been paying attention to the coaching staff,
despite his many physical limitations.

This was all Pierce. When Big Baby left the game they were losing. When he returned they were winning.

I am surprised Big Baby is winning this one. He scored majority of his point when the game was already decided. It was PP and House who carried us to win, IMO...

Good points, but I had to throw a little love his way after all the trashing I've done, and he had 2 good games in a row...I still don't like his game, though!

It's still 17 to 11!!!!

Re: Victory Cigar 3/29/09 Thunder win
Thanks for the edit Spin.
Jammer I am not sure if the italic's were a quote or your own take but I found it interesting that Davis doesn't get his shot blocked anymore (or probably less) than Powe or Perk down on the blocks. What he does seem to struggle with is put backs which can be a bit frustrating to watch.
As both Tommy and Max have pointed out it isn't that Davis can't jump and dunk it is that he is a broad jumper and hasn't shown the same leaping ability straight up and down. He needs to be able to take off sooner and more significantly needs a place to land. Against a team like OKC who has no interior defense or effective team concept nobody is going to step in and take a charge from Davis. But good defensive teams pack the lane and will have a guy or two who will get in front of the bus and when you already avg about 5.5 fouls per 36 you might think twice before rising up.

Re: Victory Cigar 3/29/09 Thunder win
Is anybody else getting annoyed by Big Baby`s "groans" every time he finishes under the basket? I first noticed it when I watched the game against the hawks but it was the same last night against OKC...

I was at the game last night and while Baby played great, Paul was the mutha **** truth. I have to give the cigar to Paul. He was in complete takeover mode. It's really funny because in the first half me and my buddy were talking about how Paul seems to be in coast mode. Then he totally amazes us in the 3rd and 4th quarters by hitting tough jumper after tough jumper.

Why would anyone be annoyed with that? If you're not annoyed with KG's antics and constant cursing on the court, surely you can't be annoyed with this.

Oh puleeez Absurd sentimentality. Baby showed a lot of gumption and I love the way he is progressing, but to vote against a 20 point second half by the Truth where he literally took over the game in every respect makes a mockery of the Victory Cigar. There are only a handful of players in the leauge who did what the Truth did last night and many many other nights for many many seasons.
SamIam 2010: Truth's ability to play so incredibly efficiently is so UNDERAPPRECIATED. Bballcool 2012: Amazing how great Pierce has been for so long. Continues to defy age! KG 2013: P is original Celtic. Wherever he goes, we go. This is The Truth's house.

Eddie's string of threes changed the game around in that third quarter... he gets my vote...
