Starbaby's doing well and it bugs some....

Post#1 » by Kefa461 » Wed Apr 8, 2009 2:23 pm

Stephon Marbury hasn't poisoned the Celtics' locker room, but he also hasn't had a positive impact on the famed Boston parquet since joining the defending champs.

I have seen him do his job here and the improvement the 2nd unit has had with him at the helm with less then 2 months at it..... 8-)

He will help us in the playoffs by being a true PG and freeing Eddie to play the 2...the NY media are just jealous that their teams suck so badly! I hope they choke on those sour grapes!
It's still 17 to 11!!!!

True true...lookin forward to Marbs at the 1, House at the 2 and TA at the 3...he will make our second unit flow well...which is great because had we not gotten him we would have had to let TA run the plays...ehhhh... :-?

Yeah it's starbury, his self made nick-name. Starbaby was probably knicks fans making fun of him.

I would like for the entire team to play at least the last few games (including KG) to sort of re-capture the chemistry before heading into the playoffs...

I don't think he's a poison like everyone said, they NY media just hates him for not delivering a playoff birth once while he was there. That being said, I wish we had a game in NYC so that Marbury could torch them for like 40 points. :D

Actually he led them to the playoffs in his first year with the Knicks where he averaged 19.8 ppg and 9.3 assists

I agree with the OP to an extent: I never, ever thought I'd find myself rooting for Stephon Marbury. But he's been playing well, and looked great last night, running the show. He faked me out at home watching with some of his passes.

I was against signing Steph from day 1 but slowly he is winning me over with his play. He has developed into a great 2nd unit backcourt with Eddie, and his passing is great. His offense will come, but if he keeps up the passing (and the decent effort on D) this will be a VERY good second unit...

I was rooting for him and still am. I was a bit scared after the Cassell incident (another guy I wanted) but Marbury has proven more unselfish out there..plus he has more game left. Marbuy had too many expectations in NYC. Good player but not THAT good. It was like expecting Don Mattingly to carry the Yankees.. That never worked either.

How can you not root for the guy.....he's in the Green......he's playing unselfish ball, hitting the open man, doing the Tommy point kinda things. Off the court saying the right things, fitting in just right. The next phase is to hit a few more shots and you got a floor general to run the 2nd unit and keep the pedal down against #2 guys of the enemies of the Green.......This could be the secret weapon of Danny........ 8-)
