also the 2nd unit

"He’s really coming along," said Celtics coach Doc Rivers. "You can see the difference in Steph, when he first got here and now. He’s just aggressive right now. And that’s what we need him to do." Marbury had five assists to just one turnover tonight against the Nets, leading a bench unit which outscored New Jersey by double-figures in a two-point game. The former Knick had just four points, but scoring isn't the goal for Marbury at the moment. "I'm trying to run the team," said Marbury. "As a point guard, coming in here so late, it’s an adjustment. It’s something that’s on the fly, but at the same time you work on everything and eventually you get it.” Boston Globe

Marb's is coming along, and Moore is playing better too, but it's crazy to think that the large portion of our title hopes lies with 1-person's body part.

Hopefully it won't come to that...

Without a healthy KG this team is not winning a Championship. So I agree with AI-Haqq

That is true. But I think we are deeper than a lot of people think...certainly deeper than even *I* thought...

It does, but injuries to Kobe and LeBron wouldn't hurt either.

You know, if you airbrush away Garnett's right leg. The arrows would appear to be pointing at Pierce. So, the championship hopes lie with the captain? Makes sense... Boston defeated the Lakers in the NBA Finals a lot in part to Pierce's offense and defense.

Perkins would have a hard time disagreeing with you, but Paul Pierce wouldn't (source: day before yesterday's Globe article). With the confidence of Rondo, Perkins, Baby and Marbury and with Ray Allen having arguably his career year, Pierce feels like we can still win. It's not that far fetched. At the least, we can still get to the ECF without KG.

Pierce, as the captain, is saying what needs to be said at this time by the leader. They are capable of reaching the ECF without Garnett but they would certainly be underdogs against Orlando. Let's hope they don't get tested.

I think once KG comes back and we use the first round as a tune-up, we should be as competitive as ever...it will be fun to watch, no doubt!

While I can agree with the OP, 2 things-

1: This is the equivalent of starting a thread saying I'm relatively sure the sun will set tonight and come up in the morning.

2: Even if KG for some awful reason can't go never count out the C's.
