KG Out Till Playoffs

Post#1 » by BillessuR6 » Mon Apr 13, 2009 6:40 pm

Kevin Garnett will miss the Celtics' final two regular-season games, at Philadelphia Tuesday and versus Washington in Boston Wednesday. Garnett is scheduled to return when the Celtics open the playoffs, Game 1 tentatively scheduled for Saturday.

"We just being careful right now," coach Doc Rivers said. "I don't see the benefit of playing Kevin right now, with the practice we're going to have."

Rivers called off practice Monday, but Garnett, Leon Powe, and Brian Scalabrine worked out and will participate in tomorrow's shootaround at the Wachovia Center.

Well, I am not surprised. I didn`t expect him to play in the regular season. I am also doubtful we see him in the first round...

Celtics are playing possum. KG will be fine. I also don't expect to see Pierce or Ray Allen for the Washington game maybe not even for the Philly game.

I think they want to hold him out as long as possible. He will start playing when we really need him, IMO.

No reason to play any of the Big 3. I wouldn't play Rondo or Perk either.

Celtics should play Marbury, House, Allen, Baby, Perkins with a bench of Pruitt, Giddens, Walker, Moore in these next two games..give 40 minutes to everybody, except Perkins, Giddens and Walker..I would even rest Perk too but we don't have enough bigs to play. Just **** it..rest Ray's elbows, rest Pierce because he has played every game this season..rest Rondo's ankles..KG's knee...let this team chill for the next week and start fresh in the playoffs..no need to put starters in there for these stupid games...

I don't want to see either Paul or Ray in there until the playoffs. They may get some burn tomorrow, but definitely aren't playing Wednesday.

Whatever. I won't be surprised if Doc says KG offficialy over this year. Even with KG, we won't go past Cleveland. Book it.

I'm on the fence with this one. I want to think the team is just resting him until the play-offs but he could got if the play-off was today. But then why would they come out and say oh KG will play the final two games of the season, then they say the final game as a tune up and then come today KG is out until the play-offs. Now they would have been better off saying if the games mean something i.e. 2nd seed in the play-offs come the final two games then KG will play. But now that we have the 2nd seed there is no need to bring him back until the play-offs.

With all that being said I'm worried because even when KG came back the first time he only played limited minutes which was in indication to me that he wasn't ready to go in the first place. Without a healthy KG were not winning a championship. I think everyon can agree to that.

Wait till we lose to Cleveland again in the playoffs. Boston Celtics forum will probably be shut down for a few hours because of heavy bandwidth.

I'm going for the RECORD. Everything I've said so far came out EXACTLY the way I said it or made a prediction about it. I'm not a fortune teller, I don't read future. I use valid, proven methods to go deep down and see what is really going on. This is simple, even a caveman can do it.

C's dismantel everyone until we meet Cleveland. Cleveland decapitates Boston, from left to right.

I wonder, when we lose to them in the playoffs what will all these optimists around here talk about. Ahh, it's all good, we have next year, can't win them all. I want these type of people to APPOLOGIZE to the other members like MYSELF who told you the future before ur own eyes.

OK, LOL..im gonna stop but seriously, get ready for summer boys. Our green team will be in Vegas in June probably.

I hope no one is surprised by this. because this is the celtics MO. They say KG will be back on a certain date and 1 or 2 days before they push it back. I fully expect that the celtics come out on Thursday and Say KG is a game time decision for game 1.

No matter because I agree with what diesel says: Even with KG the celtics are not beating the cavs.

You may be right in that we could lose to Cleveland. They got a nice squad, but what do you mean by losing to them again in the playoffs? I thought we beat them last year. Are you referring to 1992 or whatever when we were the 3 seed and lost to Mark Price, Brad Daugherty, and company?

Not me. Anything can happen in the playoffs. Yes the Celtics would have a extremely tough time beating the Cavs or the Lakers in the playoffs without KG but who says they are going to be there.

Anythings possible.

Maybe the Celtics meet the Heat in the Conf. Finals and the Nuggets in the Finals. You don't think they can beat those teams without KG?

Playoff basketball, anything can happen that's why they play the games.

All this discussion of KG playing a game this week started when it appeared that the Celtics would still be fighting for the #2 seed. Not sure that his sitting another game became much of a surprise when the games went to meaningless status with #2 clinched.

^Good point...Orlando gagged and helped us clinch #2 so I guess we *should* tank the last 2 games to rest up for the playoffs!

If we lose to cleveland I would think it had something to do with losing home court and being hit by all the injuries.
