Det VS Cle

Post#1 » by ddb » Tue Apr 14, 2009 2:28 pm

Is there ANY WAY Detroit can pull off a miracle and upset the Cavs in Rd 1? That would be amazing on so many levels as a Celtics fan.

About 2 weeks ago I thought they would cause some noise in the play-offs figuring they would play the magic. However Detroit will not win a game in the series. Cavs are too good and the pistons still trying to fit a square peg in a round hole which they have been doing for six months.

I'll be very happy for any game they may steal from Cleveland, while I'm not expecting them to get one.

Cavs will sweep the Pistons just like we're going to sweep the 76ers.

There is no chance in hell the Pistons take more than a game from the Cavs. Most likely, it'll be a sweep. Can't live in the past. The current Pistons are trash.

Anyone hopeing that Cavs will get beat by the Piston or any other team before we face them is just asking for bad karma towards the Celtics. Out of the two teams I would have to say the Cs are the ones who will most likely be upset before the ECF. I'm not saying that it will happen but the Cs have the harder road IMO then the Cavs would. So I'm not wishing and ill will toward the Cavs. I hope the Cavs and Celtics both make it because in order to the best you have to beat the best. Right now the Cavs are the best team because they have the best record and they blow us out. So in order to get that back I want the Cs to play and beat the Cavs. Because if they don't people will still say the Cs where lucky because they didn't face the Cavs. I don't want to hear it I want the Cs to play the Cavs and Lakers. That way the Cs will be the clear cut best team of 2008-2009 season. If KG didn't miss a game I beleave the Cs would have ended up with the best record in the league.

Exactly. One of the most dysfunctional and "bad vibes" squads I've seen in a while. Utter ****...winning *1* against CLE for them would be a huge accomplishment.

The only way the Cavs will get "upset" this playoffs is if the C's do it...

I wouldn't be surprised to see Det push the series to 6 games, Tayshaun's got the length defensively to bother Lebron's jumpers and Sheed and McDyess can pull Varejao and Z out of the paint. No one thought the Hawks would take us to 7 games last season and they played their hearts out, this Det team is on it's last legs as constituted, I expect them to play desperate against Cle and at least make it a series.

It won't happen. Cavs will most likely sweep them. They are on a mission. I have a feeling they won't lose a game until they face us in the ECF.

I'm inclined to agree with you tombattor. The Craboliers are playing with the same kind of focus and intensity that Detroit left behind in last year's ECFs. I'm just not seeing a competitive series. Although it will be interesting to watch how Stuckey and Maxiell--two young players I like--perform.

The Cavaliers aren't that great on the road. I think this series could go 5 or 6. Not 7, though. Detroit's a mess like everyone said. Billups, Rip, and Prince were best friends. Billups was the soul of the team.

I'm pretty excited for the Hermann/Szczerbiak matchup to be honest.

The only series I think the Piston have a chance of winning is if they face Orlando in the first round because they seem to have the Magic number. Outside of that I don't think they can beat the Cavs, Celtics, Heat, Hawks, 76ers and Hawks. All of those teams would beat the Piston between 4-1 or 4-2 in a series. And for those who think they will give the Cavs a series you must only watch Celtics games because the Cavs have the Piston number going back 2 season ago.

im just glad we dont have to play them... its got nothing to do with the outcome of the series as i think either team will take them down in 5 tops

but remember last season, remember how rip plays defense? how hard sheed can be to match up with? .... this isnt going to be a fun series for cleveland, even if they finish it in 4
