I'd sit KG til the 2nd round....

Post#1 » by MaxwellSmart » Wed Apr 15, 2009 3:15 am

Philly has ZERO chance of beating us, even without KG...the team should let him rest...No need to rush him back.

Am I wrong?

No..I agree....at best let him on the bench...Rondo too..so he can get some rest on those ankles...

Marbury, Ray, Pierce, Powe, Perk will beast Philly in 5 easy, easy...IMO that is..

Nope, I want him back. I want them all back. Scal too. We need to get our defense back to championship level for the later rounds of the playoffs. Nothing would be better then an easy sweep of Philly where the starters all play around 30 minutes.

it's not that KG needs to play in the first round in order to win, but that KG needs to play in the first round in order to be Kevin Garnett in the 2nd and 3rd and 4th

Yeah, I'd suggested this already yesterday.

I'm open to the idea of sitting Garnett until the second round if Philadelphia is indeed the first round opponent Saturday. But, Philadelphia won't be a sweep, I don't think. I'm also open to the idea of bringing Garnett off the bench in a reserve role in the first round to ease him back in.

I want him back too. As good as we've been, when the play offs get here, it's like idol, aka it's go time (pti ref). Teams go from should we care about this game? We're gonna make the play off's no matter what, is this win that important? That turns into to balls to the walls, every game counts. Not saying I wouldn't think we'd have a good chance making it through the first round with out him. Just saying I wouldn't judge our performance with out him of late as reassurance that we'd be just find with out him in the first rizzle.

This is what it comes down to right here. He needs time to get back into the flow. Philly will be perfect for that. We need 90% of KG to beat the Magic, IMO. He won't be 90% if we throw him right into the fire.

I think it's a better idea to just dispose of the Sixers as quickly as possible, while KG plays limited minutes. After we beat them in 5, KG will have plenty of time to rest as Chicago takes Orlando to 6 or 7 games.

KG will be playing all of round 1. I like the idea of resting him, but at the same time he needs to be in sync with the team.

I wouldn`t be surprised if that happened. We don`t need him to beat the sixers, so we will see...

You have to take every game serous in the playoffs. Play KG approx 8 minutes each half, but please play him. It's important to get the team used to his presence again, so they are ready for round 2.

It depends on his real situation. If he is still injured, rest him as long as possible, even up to 3rd round if its doable. If he can play, then ofc slowly get him back to the form, like 15-20 mins in the first round and going up later.
Who would win one-on-one in HORSE?

Bird: Nobody beats me in H-O-R-S-E. Besides, Magic cant shoot.

Magic: Larry, you'd have no chance against me one-on-one. I've got too many ways to beat you. Plus, as slow as I am, I'm still faster than you.

EXACTLY! Use the 1st round as a tune-up to get him back in rhythm and in game shape for the later, more difficult rounds...
It's still 17 to 11!!!!

One year ago, the folks that are recommending we sit KG until the 2nd round this year were predicting a 4-0 sweep of Atlanta.

^I don't think we should sit him, but rather work him in moderately so that by the 2nd round he can be back (or as close to) top form...

Doc is already on record saying that when KG comes back there wont be a limit on the minutes he plays.

I wouldn't underestimate Philly, athletic teams always give us fits. We dont really need to reference the Atlanta series again do we? I just hope the Celtics show up at full intensity round 1, none of this rest for the 2nd round BS

Can we please ****' quit it with the comparisons to Atlanta last year? We smoked them this season after everyone said "oh no, it's a rivalry since they took us to 7 games"...enough of this ****...and Philly is *not* Atlanta...
It's still 17 to 11!!!!
