Did we forgot how good team BOS is?

Post#1 » by klemen4 » Thu Apr 16, 2009 1:40 pm

...I have been thinking about this post for a wild, but never had the will to sit down and write about it. That is about Boston being a lot better team than last year, what a lot of fans (and I dont know why) kind of forgot in last 2 month.

Why are we a lot better?

Lets look the team:

Starting 5:

- Rondo, better player in all aspects of the game compared to last year, but the most important thing is he can take the game over on the offensive end with his penetration. Also another plus is his mid range jumper.
-Allen is used in right way this year. He found his spots on offense, there are a lot of play for him, teammates know where will he be...he is more comfortable.
-Pierce, well he is our mvp, played a good season and is on same level as lat year.
-Garnet, only player which will, dou to his injury, give us less than last year...We all hope he will be back, I think if he is able to play half of the game with his energy and presense he will give enough for us to beat anyone.
-Perk, better on defense and on offense. Like rondo improved in every area, also doesnt make stupid fouls anymore.

Bench:
-House, now finally he will be used the best way, sg coming of the screens, great shooter, can be important factor for short runs. One of the best 3pt shooters in the league.
- Powe, last year our pf improved his game on offense and on defense, hard worker, garbage guy, go to guy of our 2 unit...better player than last year.
-Big baby...our most improved player this year, energy guy, strong, smart, good defender and most important has developed good mid range shot. He is a lot better than last year, 2 times a player he was last year and I think he will give us what PJ gave us last year. Smart plays, midrange jumper, good defense.
-T.Allen takes sf spot and last years Poseys role. Great energy, good penetrator, with Marbury and House plays his best spot sf. We will miss here Poseys 3pt and defense on big sf but we gain penetration and ft.

x factor:
-Marbury is our big PLUS compared to last year roster. Taking backup pg what Casell played last year. He is way better player than Sam was, great duo with House, improved defensively, he just needs to improve his shot and we will be deadly. Again, impact player we didnt have last year.

-Moore and Scal. 11th and 12th player which can play a good role if needed.

To conclude....on every position except(Injury limited Garnet AND lack of Posey 3pt and defense) we are a better team than last year. So I dont know who dares to underestimate us. For me only LAL have a chance to beat us, but also in that match up we have a better bench and play better defense.

Have confidence in out team, we are better, experienced and will repeat.

And as Rondo said: I dont see a team that can beat us 4 times!

Well, with a healthy KG we can beat anybody anywhere. But without him the chances of beating the best teams in a series drop enormously...

I think we're at the level of the Pierce/Walker teams that made playoff runs now, honestly - good team that could overachieve and make it to the ECF. LA is LA, Cleveland is NJ, Orlando is Detroit - except Orlando is a little better than the Stackhouse Pistons, Cleveland is considerably better than the Kidd Nets, and LA is not as good as the Shaq/Kobe Lakers.

We're in a better situation than '89 - we were the 8 seed and facing the Pistons that year. But ultimately I think it's the same situation.

^Good analogy...although this team is deeper than the Pierce/Walker teams, but the East is WAY better than it was back then, too...
It's still 17 to 11!!!!

Are you **** kidding? This team is so much better than the Pierce/Walker teams! That team did over-achieve but this C's unit is an elite team. Not making the ECF would be underachieving for this group, and if we face anyone but CLE in the ECF (if we get there) not making the Finals would be underachieving. This is a thread about remembering how good this team is! The big 3>than Pierce/Walker, Rondo or Marbs are better than any pg we threw out there, and Perk is a much better player than Mark Blount or Tony Battie. Doc is a better coach than "ISO Paul Pierce" Jim O'B also, this team can hit the 3 at a high rate but doesn't need to rely on it, we actually have a ball movement offense. The Walker/Pierce C's existed almost purely on Walker and Pierce having to be the scorers and playmakers offensively, and while that was a good defensive team KG/Perk is far superior in the paint, Rondo is a pest at the pg, and Pierce can now put full effort into his D since he doesn't have to carry the offense every night.

Edit: Nevermind, I just read that KG may be out the whole playoffs, suddenly the comparison looks a lot more apt. I'm going to go start drinking.

This team was constructed for a short window anyway, it's so disappointing to have 1 of the prime years pretty much snatched away like this.

We'll always have last year; hope for the best this year but not get expectations up; and try to make things happen next year. And, even though we'll be older, we should still contend in 2011, 2012, I hope.
