Bob Ryan hit's the nail on the head......

Is there some kind of entitlement clause I never heard about? Have fans forgotten that when the Big Three were assembled there was an agreed-upon three-year window to produce title No. 17, and that the goal has already been achieved? People have no right to get greedy, especially when two excellent teams such as the 66-16 Cavaliers and the 65-17 Lakers are on the prowl. I'm not saying a healthy Celtics team couldn't have beaten either the Cavs or the Lakers, but I would not have expected them to. Big difference.
Anyway, you've already gotten your reward. Stop whining.

Well said Bob...well said.

Bob Ryan is a terrific NBA writer, but I wouldn't harp on how the loyal fan base is whining..I think it's 100% normal to react that way when learning that our leader is out for the playoffs. I think once people have the time to sit back and react on the situation they will come to the conclusion that we still have a very good basketball team capable of making it interesting. The point I agree with Bob Ryan on is that I doubt we would have won the title either way...It just seems like it's the Cavs year. They have the eye of the tiger this year. I don't even see the Lakers beating Cleveland.

Listen I think the fan have a right to express how they feel about the lose of KG for the play-offs. Maybe the Cs wasn't going to repeat with KG but in the words of KG any is possible when you have number 5 on your side. With KG out I think it leaves open the door for our younger guys to step up and make a name for themselves. Now it the time to put everyone on notice for next season. If guys like Perkins, Rondo, Powe and Allen step up and play big for the Cs in a long play-off run. Everyone will say next year with a healthy KG the Cs will be the team to beat again.

One thing I do know is this; KG will come back next season hungry. That will spill over to the rest of the team and next season will be another special season as long as they stay healthy.

So Bob Ryan is going to tell me how I should act and feel. Screw him. Where does he get off telling me the big 3 has already acomplished the goal. Maybe the goal was to win multiple championships. Screw him. Did I say that already?LOL

I usually like Bob but he's gotten cranky and crotchety in his old age and this column is no exception. While I agree we're not entitled to a title, he still feels the need to scold the local fans...hey Bob, STFU!

He's laying out a three-year window, so that includes another run next year -- which could meet your multiple title criteria.

Still, he has a good angle to watch and a nice challenge to Pierce. If Paul plays his highest level of basketball throughout the playoffs, along with Ray Allen -- sure the Celtics have a chance. Very remote, but wouldn't it be gratifying to see the Celtics shove it down LeBron and Kobe's throat without KG?

We already know they can't beat the Celtics with him.

If we won 82 games there'd still be fans whining about something. Kind of a moot point, but I agree w/him, though I'm not counting this year out until it's done. I'm still excited for the playoffs.

I don't understand why people live and die by this idea of a "3 year window". Sure, it seems good in theory but really, we are clearly beginning to see the effects of age in our Big 3. Not so much Pierce (but he is the youngest), but a little bit of Ray Allen (especially last year) and now clearly KG. This 3 year window that was constantly talked about is not set in stone. KG's injury suddenly made this a 1 1/2 year window.

We can not honestly assume that the Big 3 will be able to compete next year at a championship level if they can't do that this year. We can hope for the best, meaning hope for no major injuries, but I feel like we need to make a move that will get us another good player that is not in his 30's already to keep us going in the future. Obviously that is so much easier said than done, but IMO our chances next year are even slimmer than they currently are for this year unless another major signing happens in the offseason.

And I'm not talking about a POB type signing either. I mean something big.

I love how everyone is declaring the New Big 3 Era dead just because KG has a tendon strain.

A tendon strain.

I mean, sure the timing sucks, and it hasn't healed as planned, but I hardly think this is career threatening. It's not, oh, say, a bad back. Everyone was thinking Ray was done last year, but this year we found out in fact he hasn't forgotten how to be one of the best shooters in the NBA when healthy.

Injuries happen. The Magic lost Jameer. Rockets lost McGrady. Spurs lost Ginobli. The Laker lost Bynum last year. Maybe none are of the magnitude as us losing KG, but it certainly hurts. Health plays a big role in who wins on any given season. That's why it's partly luck, and it's so hard to repeat.

This team still has a 3-4 year window FROM TODAY imo. Guys don't really start going downhill until 35. And given these guys' conditioning, they might even go longer. Plus we got some improving young guys. It's all just about health, and particularly having everyone healthy for the playoffs. Guys will get injured, you just hope it's not at the wrong time.

Even if we don't win this year, we will be back next year, trust me.

Bob Ryan says we should all just be happy with one and give up on the other. Go take a hike and remember to take your meds Bob. Celts will pwn you and everyone of your hating media buddies.

while i'm satisfied with one championship, that doesnt somehow create an excuse that two months ago we were expected and could of quite possibly been up for another.

bob ryan is a loser, we had a 3 year window to win one championship, yet you would expect them to win that championship each of those years.

with scal coming off the books, ainge better do something to improve the team though, sure they had a successful season, but the team lacked that extra umph it had last year IMO, but because they had a whole year under their belt, the absence if Posey was hardly noticed and we wont even get a chance to see if it was a difference at all in the playoffs because KG is out.
